I throw the towel in with this thread, feels like the weight of the Anti-Speeding brigade are all over it.

Similarly with this mini roundabout mayhem, I drive past/over/across literally hundreds per week, and find this notion that all you guys indicate EVERY time you approach a mini roundabout bizarre.

Amongst all the highway code quoting, the Highway code doesn't show a mini roundabout in the traditional T shape and a car crossing left to right across the T, so the quotes are irrelevant.

Someone who indicates correctly at a mini roundabout hinders no one, has nothing to lose, allows traffic coming the other way to carry on because it's clear where they are going. However you think it's "crazy" and now it's related to the anti-speeding brigade.
I throw the towel in with this thread,
Your assertion that people who follow the correct procedure are "crazy" is a failure to acknowledge that you are wrong.

A mini roundabout is still a roundabout.

I don't see it as a hinderance, moreover it shows the driver has a lack of Common Sense.

The driver is being "over" cautious. Maybe not wrong or a bad thing to do, but completely un-necessary and benefits no other road user.
I indicate left but no one would describe my driving style as "over cautious". I get on with things, but I make the effort to indicate what I'm doing.

If I indicate left (correctly) to show that I will be exiting at the next exit (when going straight over a mini roundabout) then it allows traffic coming in the other direction to carry on because they know that I'm not coming round further.

I was waiting to join a busy roundabout the other day and observed two cars indicating left whilst going all the way round the roundabout.
Well, that is daft. But that doesn't mean that everyone else should stop indicating.

so on approach you should either be indicating left to go straight on or right to turn right or U turn if it will benefit another roaduser.

but why indicate left when not going left, surely going straight on is just that and not a left or right turn

You are not indicating left to indicate your intention to physically turn your wheels to the left, but rather to indicate your intention to leave the roundabout at the next exit.

if i come to a roundabout like the 1 in the last picture and im coming from the bottom of the picture and going straight over i dotn indicate well not all the time, if i was in the right hand lane then yes i could understand why it would help

Imagine you were approaching the roundabout from top and had yet to stop. If you saw a car coming from the bottom left that wasn't signalling, it would only be safe to assume that the car was coming around the roundabout and passing in front of you. Therefore, you would have to come to a complete halt and wait. However, if you saw the car enter the roundabout and start signalling left, you would then know (with a fair degree of certainty) that it was safe to enter the roundabout without stopping completely, because the other car was going to leave the roundabout at the first exit.

Obviously, common sense is still required, but signalling takes some of the uncertainty out of the manoeuvre.

Then you require some refresher driving lessons, like a few others on here.;)

I don't think you grasped the point I was making about a mini roundabout, Maybe I assume too much, I thought your point was kind of obvious and has no relation to my post!

Are you suggesting on approaching this mini roundabout from the bottom of the screen, you would indicate left to go straight on (like so many other I see)???

It is simply crazy people here indicate their intention NOT to turn right.
I would definitely indicate left on this roundabout to show any other drivers that I am taking the first exit.

If I didn't indicate then someone approaching from the opposite direction can't know whether I am intending to go straight on, or if I'm one of those people who doesn't indicate and may be turning right.

I indicate all the time whether or not there is any other traffic or pedestrian around. It's just easier to have indicating as a normal part of driving - it was how I was taught to drive.

I live near a roundabout with a very similar layout, and it is incredibly annoying to sit there while three cars go straight ahead without indicating, but being unable to enter the roundabout in case they are turning right without indicating.

Actually it isn't " bum advice " it is totally correct advice in the above situation.

It seems that a few people on here would benefit from some refresher driving lessons.;)

I did answer without viewing the piccy so what I said was wrong in that particular instance, I was assuming a 4 enty/exit mini O and was envisiging a driver entering the O with his lh indicator on to go straightwhile traffic was approaching fom the left  Sorry to Kwaks, hadn't realised we were being so specific.

Which I think highlights why you have top be so carefull at these things, they are all very different to each other.
A traffic cop I know tells me they have more misunderstanding accidents at this type of junction than any other
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

And, if the "Considerate Driving Brigade" had a few more active members, we wouldn't have this section of the forum littered with "I had a crash today............" type threads :p
