Help - blocked toilet :(

Thanks again guys.
There's nothing flexible in the house, I don't even have wire coat hangers (how useless am I). Must get a few for future use!
I'll try the hot water first.
I didn't think of using a whole bottle of bleach, will do that. I have lots of Domestos 14p bleach from the recent glitch so will sacrifice a bottle of that.
Someone at work suggested Coca Cola! Anyone tried it?
I tried the bucket of water but no luck.
I am not calling a plumber, too expensive and embarrassing!!!!!!!!
p.s. I eat plenty of roughage lol. Can't believe I am discussing my toilet habits on MSE!!!!!!!! :eek:Get to 119lbs! 1/2/09: 135.6lbs 1/5/11: 145.8lbs 30/3/13 150lbs 22/2/14 137lbs 2/6/14 128lbs 29/8/14 124lbs 2/6/17 126lbs

the copious amounts of water from large height do it every time for me
son blocks loo once a week
usually use cold water though not hot
hot may crack the base then you have more problems
dont need a plumber
get a kit from the likes of B&Q or like that
much cheaper than a plumber
else a load of bleach left down the loo as long as poss will do overnight or longer
fella is engineery blokey and he does these lots
he has a long pole that has extensions and shoves that down while twisting
so the advice above is great a coathanger or washing machine pipe etc
and dont need to be embarrassed honest:)63 mortgage payments to go.

Please please dont put any chemicals such as bleach or caustic soda down your toilet until you have at least stuck your hand in there. Stick your arm in first, if this fails try the mop trick. Remember you wont be able to put your arm down there once you have poured chemicals down the loo, you will get chemical burns! Caustic soda is really really nasty stuff and the main active ingerdient of all the drain unblockers. Do you have a local ironmongers? They can give you detailed advice on what to do. A coopers plunger is really what you need (about £4 and is a rubber disc on the end of a stick, a few thrusts with this is all it should need available from the local ironmongers probably with a useful demonstration too.)0

No advice really to give you apart from the plunge and bleach but this thread has reminded me of my friend's DD telling the shopkeeper in the packed local shop that mummy had done a big poo that broke the toilet!!! :rotfl: my poor friend was mortified and sent her OH to the shop for the next few months!!
Hope you get it sorted!Kate

If the 'kit' from B&Q contains a pressure canister thing for unblocking toilets (sorry not very technical i know!) be careful when you use it. My friend used one but didnt put it far enough into the toilet and all the pooey water exploded up out of the toilet covering her and her entire bathroom:eek::rotfl:The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

The cola-down-the-lav trick is used to dissolve lime-scale, as any Old-Timer forum regular could tell you. I doubt that it would break down a dirty great jobby that quickly but I expect the water in the lav would do that given enough time.
Why not pop round to a neighbour and ask for a wire coat-hanger? There won't be any need to tell them what you need it for although I expect your kids will do that for you at some point.
PLEASE don't be tempted to use caustic soda, it's evil stuff and gives off really dangerous fumes as well. The dead kind of dangerous0
