Job Center said I will have to give up college...

Well, whatever happens I def won't give up college, not bothered what the job centre says, I'll do 3 jobs if I have to.
I worked in retail before as an assistant manager. Worked 5 days out of 7 and could specify my day off for college.
I go college on my day off, it's not as though I'm asking to go in my working time.
Thanks for the replies. I'm hopeful that I will find something to accomodate me, and if not, i'll have to work nights or something.9/70lbs to lose

I'll be 33 by the time I qualify, and then I have a few year training in the job to do, so I think if I want a mortgage, kids etc then I really need to do it now, otherwise I'll struggle to attain what I want any later on in life.9/70lbs to lose

just a quick final thought
one of my college courses (AAT) was one afternoon and an evening each week
could you maybe do the same?
then its only one afternoon off
try to get anothe rjob working 5/7 that why i mentioned casino (not just croupier job, also reception and wait staff and cook etc)
plus if you could do afternoon and evening you could use hols for it
most of my courses have only been 33/34 weeks long each year
so at a half day hol for each week it comes to around 17 days
plus some days for exams
so ok all your annual leave will be used up but you wont upset an employer63 mortgage payments to go.

My course is only available in the day, part time (1day) or full time (3days).. I'd quite happily do it in the evenings if it were available, but alas no
It's because we have to go outside and use equipment to do surveys.
I am thinking of getting a normal retail job and maybe an evening job too, but it's the logistics of it all.. going to struggle to fit everything in around everything else. Companies seem to want 100% time commitment from you nowdays.
I will get a 1st job and then try to get a 2nd job to work around it, fingers crossed.
Thanks for the tips Mark! Using holiday is not a problem, I would just want 1 week a year to go snowboarding (if i can afford it now! lol)..

It is standard to be told that, i was told the same so i closed my claim for jsa, is there no part time jobs available just for a few days week to tide yourself over or how ever many hours you can cope with,0

I would lose my insurance payment if i get another job, even part time.
I've got an interview for a job tomorrow, just about able to live off of the wage if I get it, so fingers crossed.
I guess I'll have to just flop at the interview if I can't get the college day off..9/70lbs to lose

putting cart before the horse maybe
they said IF a job comes up
first the job has to materialise
then you have to be choesen for and interviewed
then maybe a CRB and refs etc etc
so assuming the mystical job turns up
around 5 weeks or more to start
then you could say you had a hol booked for 2 weeks
and hey presto college finished
Or - put another way - dont go straight through obstacles - go round them.
It IS only 7 weeks as you say - so it must be possible to "find ways round" any chance of a job mucking-up the rest of your College course - and then you will be qualified for a better job:D0 -
I guess I'm gonna have to be a little sneaky if they push the issue..
I have another 6 yrs after this one, so I'm gonna have to get it sorted eventually...9/70lbs to lose

In your situation, people just say that they're prepared to give up college if a suitable job comes along.
Play the game by the rules and don't worry about it.0 -
Thanks
