Are you surfing while at work? It could be due to various security measure taken by some companies, like disabling java-scripting etc. If not you need to sort out your PC. There have been various threads about this in the This Site Questions & Suggestions forum.

I'm wanting to switch from Powergen (after a 3 month bill received yesterday for £330!), as their price hike is just going to make it even more expensive! The problem is that the comparison sites are coming up with conflicting results, despite putting in my annual Kwh. In one case the difference, for the same supplier, is almost £150 p.a., which certainly isn't the difference of a £21 d/d offer, or the £20 for a bottle of champer which might be offered through the comparison site.
I have a slight issue with signing up through a comparison site too (they're just as bad as a UW distributor getting a cut of your bill essentially).
Any ideas, any experience anyone? I'm going to try supplier's individual sites to see if there's a difference there too.One day the clocks will stop, and time won't mean a thing

Use the comparison sites to find the cheapest deal and then sign up for that deal through Quidco......
..... unless I have missed something somewhere!

Some of the lower rates are only available via comparison sites, so worth checking to make sure the rates are the same before switching. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Right the comparison sites reckon its cheapest for me on Atlantic Dual Fuel Domestic Online Nil Service Charge.
Before I jump in with both feet, is there anything I should be wary of?!?!
I'm with Powergen at the mo and the comparison is as follows:
Powergen Gas: 3.737 / 2.972 (over 1143 units)
Atlantic Gas: 3.16 / 2.33 (over 4572 units)
British Gas: 3.325 / 2.553p (over 1143 units)
Powergen Elec: 16.74 / 10.05 (over 225 units)
Atlantic Elec: 13.39 / 8.67 (over 728 units)
British Gas: 10.697 / 8.530p (over 225 units)
Looks good to me, just can't realistically believe I can save over £200 a year!!!
Oh forgot to say, Powergen do 9% discount for DD, Atlantic do 8.5%. BG do Dual fuel discount of £15, Paperless billing discount of £5 per fuel, Total discount of £25. I assume that would be at the end of the year as opposed to the others who would give the percentages off each bill?!?!
What are the chances Atlantic will put their prices up soon!?!?

EDITED to add energyhelpline say British Gas Green click energy is my best plan. I like the idea of green energy but how can they come up with different results?!?!0 -

When you got the conflicting result, did you actually look at the tarrif on the comparison site.....If you click on the tarrif on the list page, it should show you the price per kwh of both gas and electricity......if you do this on both the comparisons you used, you should be able to find how the error has arisen.....I've had differing results before, but it was usually down to my error......although on one ocassion, one of the comparison sites was using a recent increase and the other wasn't......that's why (I think) you need to see the actual tarrif prices.0 -

Well.......thats the $64,000 question..........Atlantic say my saving is about £288..........I think there is a HIGH CHANCE that their prices will rise soon.......Their last increase was 4 months ago.....0 -

Are you not confusing the QUARTERLY Gas Tier 1 quota of 1143 units for PG and and BG with the ANNUAL quota for Atlantic?
Same for Electric?
As for what will be the best option now, it is just arithmetic. For the future just get out a crystal ball and let us all know;)0 -
We were on energy online tariff until early August when I heard that British Gas were going up, so I decided to phone up and go on the capped rate. After thinking about it, I phoned them up last week to see if I changed before any increases took place. He said yes and good job as the energy online had since gone up and we were better off already!!??? So I assume I did the right thing and didn't get caught paying even more!!!!!0

Sounds like you caught it in time, although some of the "capped" prices are quite high....It depends on what price you got.0
