One thing that is starting to annoy me is that the amount of "white space" is a bit overwhelming.
I quite like the white
The poll is missing on this new version. On the right hand side at the bottom. Its on the old version but not the new one. I only found this weeks poll through finding the discussion thread about it.0 -

As said, I think it completely depends on both you and your particular display. For many people, the way it is at present may be just fine.
However, my display is just a bog standard laptop one, so I suspect that quite a few people may also find it too 'bright'.
To be honest, I really really don't want to have to mess around with my display brightness/properties every time I want to comfortably read these forums.
Which is why an extra version of the new forum style with toned down colours may be a good idea. It wouldn't be difficult to implement, as it would just be exactly the same style template as the current new one, with just the odd few lines of code modified to adjust the colours.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

I thought you said that you would allow users to have the option of this new style or the old one as a setting in their userCP?
To do that, you would need to know how to allow a user to choose which style they want?
So instead of just the option for the old and new style, you would have 3 instead.
1) The old forum style.
2) The new style with colour settings as they are now.
3) The new style with toned down colours.
Where (3) is a copy of (2) with some minor changes to the colours.
vBulletin already has built in style management.
Check the AdminCP.
And see: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/main/styles_and_templates
In fact, many vBulletin boards allow users to change styles on the fly, if more than one is installed.
Like this:
I know that is available somewhere with your software, as such a style chooser menu briefly appeared the other day. It's gone again now, but it was there and allowed switching.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
