Not the first bit ... but the second bit ... I LOVE the way the water twirls and whirls aroundMics_chick wrote: »Does keep throwing things around make any sense to anyone? Mostly pieces of paper or soft things that won't hurt or break but not always...
Or having a "fascination" with the toilet?
Almost a "need" to flush things down the loo???
It's annoying it doesn't swirl everywhere round the bowl. I usually mentally redesign them so the water flow is different. 0 -
The first bit was describing my son but the second part was describing myself...PasturesNew wrote: »Not the first bit ... but the second bit ... I LOVE the way the water twirls and whirls around

Anybody can go through the list of things and tick a bunch of the boxes and go "yeah, I do that".... but you know you've got a problem when for some of the symptoms in each of the groups you can (in great detail) come up with 100 times you've done it.deannatrois wrote: »Remember tho.., that Autistic Syndrome of Disorders is a collection of symptoms, any of which can be bundled together and called ASD. ASD in one person is different to ASD in another person., and one can show one symptom in an extreme way while another can show it mildly.
So its not always good to generalise about what ASD is.., rather to talk about what it could be (in terms of symptoms)
If I had to sit and write down all my "evidences", I think it would go to about 200 pages.
Stimming's an odd one. I never realised I was doing something that had a name ... and I have quite a few of them... although, thankfully, now I can stop appearing weird in public, now I am aware of it.0 -

Driving's a bad one. I'm a great driver, text book perfect. But, I can't drive if other people are in the car and talking. They go on and on and on and on ... and I can't listen to them AND drive.
I throw a paddy, do an emergency stop (if there's nothing behind me of course), then bang on the steering wheel and say "shut up, I can't drive if you don't shut up".
People don't always want lifts after that.
I had somebody in the car the other day that was natter, natter, natter, natter, natter... and I was trying to listen to them as they'd get arsey if I didn't respond... and after 5 miles I realised I was doing 30mph at a set point behind a van simply because my brain had switched off from driving in order to listen to them ... and so I wasn't making decisions like "he's going slow, it's dual carriageway, I'll overtake". Drives me nuts to have other people in the car.0 -
This comes across as a sense of humour to me?PasturesNew wrote: »Driving's a bad one. I'm a great driver, text book perfect. But, I can't drive if other people are in the car and talking. They go on and on and on and on ... and I can't listen to them AND drive.

Hi Mics, my son (5) is Autistic but at the other end of the spectrum. Loads of great advice already on this thread but there is a great forum that really helps me as I have no knowledge of Autism before I had my son - linky here
My son throws everything - a piece of fluff, a toy anything that is around. He doesnt like toilets at all but loves taps - switching them on and off for hours! xxPay Debt by Xmas 16 - 0/12000
There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man.0 -

Try a fascination with Loo Roll ., we reckon he eats it a roll at the time.., they just disappear (and he's only just 'outgrown' that stage at 14. And the number of times he's blocked the toilet trying to flush a whole one down.
But u do have to laugh lol.0 -

I've never eaten loo roll but no matter how many times I block a loo I still "have" to do flush stuff (like leftovers, torn up paper) that shouldn't go down it again at some point and I'm 43deannatrois wrote: »Try a fascination with Loo Roll ., we reckon he eats it a roll at the time.., they just disappear (and he's only just 'outgrown' that stage at 14.
