Very awkward, no one can really help. Hubby works as do my mum and dad who are great and do tonnes to help out already. My dad has taken 2 days off work recently to look after her when she has been off school so i can study/sit exams.
Also, my stubborn side says why the hell should i remove my well behaved, pleasant child. Horrible, badly behaved child should be the one to miss out.
My daughter misses enough school as it is with her health. She gets surgery every 6 months to lengthen the rods in her spine requiring a week off school each time. Plus she has chronic respiratory infections and has been in and out of hospital with them for about a week at a time. She also has various hospital appts that need time off to see orthopaedic surgeons, cardiologist, respiratory consultant, GI consultant. So i really don't want her missing out on more schoolThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
gunsandbanjos - you obviously believe in your daughter attending school when she can so that she can recieve an education. you do your utmost to send her, and bless her, she goes even though she is scared stiff of this child.
The headmaster has not kept his word has he? Why should YOUR daughter (and the rest of the class) suffer so that this child with his problems be kept in class?
I know you dont want to keep your daughter out of school - but it seems to me the school is flagrantly disgregarding your daughters rights in favour of this child.
Its a sad situation all round - your child is being victimised and the school is actively encouraging that. the child involved is not getting the psychological help he needs as the school is insisting he is taught mainstream.
I would get tough here - your daughter doesnt go to school while this child is in the class. and be prepared to take it up at governer, LEA and ministerial level - and let the head KNOW that!
My son missed a lot of school because of illness - the schooling system in hospital was laughable - about an hour a week and they had a story read to them and homework was a picture to colour in! so i used the letts series and kept son up to date myself. there are plenty of key stage workbooks available if you need to keep daughter off school a few weeks.
btw - as a disabled child isnt the schools SENCO aware of her problems? have you spoken to them? you havent mentioned them at all.0 -
G&B I'm so sorry to hear the school have let you down but I'm with you your daughter should not have to miss school because of this.
Can you get to school early with a letter to the head explaining what has happened and saying that you want to see them at the end of the day (if you can get there). When one of my children was unsettled at school there was a member of staff (it was the children's centre manager) who went down to check on him a couple of times a day to ask if he was ok and happy. The rule was if at anytime he wanted to go and see this teacher he just had to ask his class teacher and he could go. He was in Yr2 at the time and it worked well for him to have that safety net.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -

Absolutely agree with you, but if this boy is making school difficult for her then he is impeding her getting an education and reducing the value of her school attendance.Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan

Well i spoke to the teacher again yesterday and made it very clear how annoyed i was that she was still sitting beside him.
When i picked my daughter up from school i asked if he had been moved and she said he had:T Will keep a close eye on the situation and speak to them again if i have to.
Also had a word with the boy himself in the playground before they started school as he was right up in her face again. Just told him very firmly to get away from her and to stay away. Got some dirty looks from his mother but i dont care. The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -

This week has been ok as she was only in school thursday/friday due to bank holiday and inservice days.
I did however have a small disagreement with bullys mum on friday and told her a few home truths about her thug of a son and i may have made her cry:oThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
