Stay off sick until maternity leave. It's the only sensible course of action. Stop worrying about what they will try and do and just wait and see what happens. Don't expect a union to be any help, they're usually toothless. Talk to ACAS and follow their instructions and just keep notes of everything that happens.
If I knew my bank treated employees like this I'd close my account immediately and stick a page up on facebook urging anyone else to do the same until the weight of the publicity started to affect their bottom line ;-)0 -
Its just so stressful, Hate being off work as I feel they have won.I am so worried now that I am dreading phoning in sick to update them of my position tomorrow after gp.0

hate to say this teabelly but this behaviour is quite common.........0

Best not to phone in sick. Send them a sick note via post or fax. Saves having to talk to them. Also request that they only talk to you via email or post as any phone calls will worsen your condition.
Going off sick is a sign you are not putting up with their behaviour and it has to change or you will not return and play their silly games. This is what annoys them as it is your way of changing the rules and they have to act rather than ignoring the problem.0 -
Teabelly - I cant its part of the group sickness policy I need to call in sick0

If you have been to the Dr and been signed off work for sickness or stress, stay off work.
Don't feel guilty or anything, do as the Dr has advised.
I don't understand the "technicalities" of the way this is working out in your job
- what I do see VERY clearly is you are quite obviously stressed up to your eyeballs with what is going on...
so - DO make sure you stay off on sickleave with stress. Before I even got to your post where you mentioned that you are I was thinking "This woman clearly needs to be signed off with stress".
You have that additional concern as well - ie the welfare of your baby.
Stay signed off work for the time being - whatever else you do. That much is very very clear from the impression I have so far. Right now - that baby of yours is your primary responsibility in the circumstances you are in.
For right now - your firm can go hang with the way they are treating the person in that position (which happens to be you...).0 -

            Nicki
Please - right NOW - take a few deep breaths and then take a few more and go for "a walk around the block" or something similar.
Right now - right this evening - do whatever seems most relaxing to you. I can feel your panic coming through the computer screen loud and clear at this moment. They arent worth it - believe me no employer is worth it.
Now...right now.....deep slow breaths....think "yoga breaths". Have you got any relaxing aromatherapy oils? Have you got a supportive partner/husband?0 -
ceridwen - Thanks for your post - tbh my husband is very supportive he works nightshift though.
I am only stressed as I am concencious and care about what I do etc. I care more about my Baby, but I just worry about where the money is going to come from when they get rid of me . Need to keep a roof over my unborn childs head. i know I sound like a loon - but I have been going round in circles for over 2 years and its clearly got me nowhere. I think someone posted that my branch is going down the tubes and they want to pin the blame on me. The branch has never performed and to be honest and it will get worse as there are redundancies due in the next 4 weeks, so the branch will loose 3 fulltime staff.0 -
Nicki, I work for a bank and they have a policy about phoning in sick every day etc etc but when I got a sick note I just sent it in and did not contact them again except to advise when I expected to be back or to give them details of another sick note. it is not necessary for you to call every day if you have a sick note - that is just rubbish and them trying to put pressure on you to return.BSC #215/No.1 Jan 09 Club0
