HTC Desire Vodafone 500mb Fair Usage Policy

I'm pleased to say that i am now with T-Mobile. Have bought an Orange San Francisco android phone for £89, and am selling my HTC Magic to Envirofone for £83. T-Mobile is costing me a tenner a month for 12 months, with 600mins, Unlimited Texts, and 3000Mb data before any throttling goes on. So far i get a vastly better signal and 3g speed in all the places i have used it.
Didn't have to contact Vodafone formally by post and send recorded delivery letters. Waiting for a final bill at this point. Glad to be rid!0 -
I just called them and said I'd like to cancel because I keep getting texts saying I'll be charged if I use more than £500, and I wanted to cancel because I signed up for unlimited usage
The woman on the phone told me I DID have unlimited usage, and I wouldn't be charged for it. I asked her why I was receiving the texts, and she said she wasn't sure but I had unlimited internet.
I then asked (just to be clear), "so no matter how much internet I use on my phone, I will not be charged for it?" and she said that's right. I asked for a reference number but she said she didn't have one, she would just text me the details of my current contract...
should I leave it at this, because I have no proof atmThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
i'd probably at least email them stating that you would like to cancel on the basis of new charges, that way if they try to wrangle out of it you will have at least one bit of proof you raised the issue at this date. The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits0

HTC sounds like a good make. I am trying to choose between one and a Blackberry.0

Well i got very helpful answers.... having shown that the new charges would be to my detriment and also lodged a complaint about them months ago....
'No customers were given the option to cancel, if you felt it was a breach in your agreement with Vodafone it would be up to you to contact us before the new charges came into place. As we were not contacted before this date we are unable to review your case'
And
'Further to my previous email Vodafone’s final position has not changed.'

Terminated contract. Without a phone call. Without posting in their forum. Without much except writing them a letter tbh. Now to find a Desire HD somewhere0

This has just made up my mind that i wont be signing any contract for myself/business with Vodaphone!0

The simple fact is Vodafone didn't have to change the t&c's. They now need to allow people to cancel if they do not wish to stay with the new charges. They chose to change the contracts and now have to face up to that decision...0

Well, its all over for me. My PAC has been accepted by my new network and my phone is no longer connected to Vodafone.
Despite a few hiccups due to misinformation I am happy with the way Vodafone handled this for me. They notified me of the charges, albeit without giving the sufficient amount of notice, I wrote to them to inform them I was not accepting these charges, and they wrote back with a PAC code and confirmation I could cancel.
I have no issue with changes in T&C's provided the mobile networks recognise that a contract is a two way thing and allow us to leave if we don't agree with the changes. We cannot be held to a contract that has changed from that which we signed.
In my case Vodafone held up this side of the contract, so I've no hard feelings and would sign with them again if they offered a deal I was happy with. Though with only 500mb for data, I doubt that will be any time soon.
It's a real shame they are not being as fair with everyone, mind. Good luck to those still left.0 -
Hello,
I have been reading the thread, and contacted Vodafone as I was not informed of the T&C change. The response was that it dose on affect me! but, if I was told that the contract I have has unlimited data with FUP, then the T&C change would affect me?
Is this correct or have I got the wrong end of the stick? BTW I have a HD2.0
