I didnt take out the phones until the end of June. Would I still be able to cancel if they charge me on FUP? It seems unlikely they havent changed their t and c's, but I cant see where on earth the t and c's that relate to this are.
They have offered to change the line on the 1 gig hard cap, so that I instead have two lines on the the 500mb FUP. I am wondering now if that would be my best bet...0 -

At the moment, 500 FUP seems like the better option.SAY NO TO INJUSTICE !

I don't think you would be able to cancel as the decision applied from the beginning of June so was already out in the open by then. Nothing stopping you trying though, but my gut instinct says it will be a no.
I have had a response about the text warnings. They say effectively:
A possible maximum number of three texts per month dependent on data usage may be sent over a two month period advising customers of that they have exceeded their monthly data allowance and they will not be charged at this point. If this should continue for a third month then a text will be sent and a phone call made by Vodafone to recommend tariffs possibly more suitable to their needs.0 -

what you say about not being able to cancel as it was introduced on 1st june is incorret, you CAN cancel BUT Only once you recieve the final txt saying you are about to be charged , Only then can you cancel, and you have 14 days to do it, 1st of june means nothing, its when you get a txt confirming you are about to be charged, its 14 days from that txt you have to cancel0 -

OK, the last VF adviser I spoke to said that what would happen is they'd make the 500mb a hard cap so you would automatically be charged as soon as you go one byte over 500mb.
He didnt mention thered be an option to take on the 1 gig hard cap, or that there would be any other tariffs.
Does anyone know whats going on??0 -
I have also heard something similar to that.
I was told if you have a "YP" price plan which is usually around £30 a month or higher, there will be a 1gb hard cap. For all other cheaper tariffs, it will be a 500mb hard cap.0 -
You were told different things as most Vodafone staff don't really have a clue. There is so much in the way of positioning going on regarding how to officially deal with this that nothing concrete is being passed down for staff to hand out, added to the common trait that lots of 191 staff don't appear to have a clue it means lots of wrong information is being given out.
Tell Vodafone about it and you'll get a "thanks for letting us know" (but we don't really care - la la laaa we're not listening)0 -
As apparently I can take my time deciding what to do with these packages I'll see what happens when I get up to / over the 500mb on the FUP one and report back.
I'm also going to ask VF for a discount off my bill, which I think is the least they can do.0 -

I'm going to put together some examples for you tomorrow which I'll add on the eForum. Personally, I use an iPhone and have a stack of apps on it that use the internet. I normally don't use more than about 100MB a month, leaving tons of data for video streaming and other stuff on top.
Can anyone confirm if this has been done?
It will be interesting to see what the figures are for a selection of users.
Would it be possible for you (Vodafone Company representative) to record some actual data from HTC Desire users and the amount in MB that they use, i realise you cant put customer sensitive data but to try and settle/close this ridiculous thread it would be beneficial?
Cheers0 -
having spent the last 25 minutes reading this thread im bemused by the data that people are using
1.5GB in 2 days?!!!!! thats more that i use on my laptop a month.
Are you sure these figures are right?
I used an HTC Hero for a month, i had the net ALWAYS on, email updates every 10 minutes, twitter constantly updating, Facebook feed permanatley on, web browsing for about 5-6 hours a day an i used about 360MB in that whole month
Are some people getting confused with the download speeds of kbs/mbs (kilo/megabits per second) rather than the actual amount of data in KB/MB (kilo/megabytes of data)?
laughable if thats the case :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0
