I'm the same - only now i want compensation for the ridiculous efforts that i have had to go to to get what i was sold, only i still haven't got it yet!

No sign of a call from Lee again yet - i may email to let him know that i am available - i've got a signal and have received text messages but no calls.
  • So let me get this right. At the minute I cant cancel my contract. I have to wait until I receive my first £5 charge then I can cancel? Is this correct?

That is what vodafone has said..... of course getting them to agree to what they have said is a different matter.

    Hi

I have just upgraded 2 contracts with vodafone today.
I have got the following:-Monthly One-off HTC Desire
    Price plan: Anytime 600 + 3000 Texts (18 Months) + Vodafone Passport
+ 1GB of mobile internet and webmail
    -
    £35.00
    -
    £0.00
    - DeliveryFree Total £35.00 £0.00
Have i got a good enough deal? Worried now about the internet usage after reading some of this thread. Surely 1gb is plenty????

I am currently paying £40 month withough internet, so i was quite pleased.

This is annoying for me, im on an old contract from mid last year with unlimited texts, 900 mins and unlimited data with a FUP which at the time was 3000mb? (i was advised that you can go over without being charged just not regularly). I took advantage and usually did use over 1gb of data per month tethering and regular use etc(apparently vodafone are the only provider who allow this?).

However now (past week) i keep getting messages stating i have exceeded my daily limit? of 25 mb and to not do it in future without buying a bigger data plan (bigger than unlimited?). They didnt charge me but i was peeved none the less as that amounts to just 750mb per month!

I called to ask why this had changed and they just stated the FUP is 500mb and always has been (yeh right! ive just been using over a gb for 8 months and getting away with it!) I couldnt be arsed to argue but if they dare charge me ill kick up a stink and cancel asap or demand very large data allowance. After all i chose this plan for a reason!
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

4743 you'll have to contact Vodafone to clarify - there are clearly problems with the notification system, and whilst there are suspicions that this is an excuse you should give benefit of doubt to them and let them try and deal with it. I'm the same as you, i chose this plan for a reason, and now have to play a waiting game and see if they try and charge me. If they do and my bill increases by 10% on the standard amount then i can cancel without penalty. I've got this in writing.

Unfortunately i'm stuck now and suspect that Vodafone won't charge me as it would mean losing out. I would think that other customers will be charged, but only if they haven't kicked up much of a fuss. The whole matter has i think been handled in a very underhanded way. I certainly will no longer be recommending Vodafone to clients or friends, and hope that Vodafone regret their actions.

Iloveboots - personally i don't think it's that bad a deal. That's what i would probably go for if i was starting a new 18month contract, but it would be close between that and similar from T-Mobile. For similar money you can get more mobile internet allowance.

Unbelivable I just spoke to someone in 'complaints' called Cindy.

After I queried the charges, and she tried to explain she then turned around and said 'so do you have all the answers then?', VERY VERY rude! She then said I would be advised to move on to a higher contract. I said what if I dont want to change my contract. She said 'Well you best use less internet then!' again how rude. How these people have jobs baffles me!

Ive been using over 1gb for past 6 months, and i've had 3 text messages so far... so when do I send my letter in???

Can't believe they closed the vodafone forum as well unbelievable! Will never go near vodafone again!

I'm fairly sure that you have to wait until you are actually billed - then you pay that bill and you give 30days notice.

It does say you will be notified 14 days before a charge comes in to place, and you will need to write to them before the charge actually happens. I just dont know if the text message is the alert or they will actually ring me and alert me that way.
