First of all big congrats:j
On the maternity clothes front try Asda. I got all my maternity clothes from there and they were great. They usually have a mat department in the huge walmart stores. I am currently on maternity leave (go back to work in 5 weeks) and have done things the DFW way (even before I found this sight). I breastfed for 12 weeks. I do use disposable nappies but I buy costco own brand and they are fine. I also get wipes and neppysacks from there. I am starting on solids now and am pureeing like mad - no 50p a go jars for my little rugrat!! All the clothes he has had so far have either been ebay, pressies or borrowed, we have spent very little on clothes so far. All his x mas toys are from e bay or are cheepie versions of the vtech type ones. Having a baby is as expensive as you make it!!
Congrats again.
love beany xx0 -
Thanks - our local Asda used to do maternity clothes but has now stopped. We also have an Asda At Home store nearby, but they also don't do the maternity clothes grrrr! There is a big Walmart not too far away though, so I will go and have a look there, thanks!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

just to add my two pence worth
I had 4 babies in 5 years. we bought some mothercare terry nappies which were bound at the edges with blue. they lasted through all the kids when the others we were given didnt. my kids we found out were allergic to dispoables, so although easier were very expensive, and caused no end of bother (no pun intended)
i still use them for mopping up now and my youngest is now 18!
that dfw me thinks

On the subject of nappies, has anyone used the Bambino Mio reuseable nappies? I have been looking at the 'Birth to Potty' pack which is about £200. I have looked on eBay, but to be honest, I would rather buy them new (I'm not being snobby here, but I'm a bit squeamish about buying certain things second hand. It will probably save a lot of money in the long run, and be better for the environment, but it would be a very expensive mistake to make if they didn't work well, or if I needed to buy a lot of extras too. Has anyone bought this pack? I'll have a look on the families board too, and do a search to see if they've been discussed on there."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

We called in at Mothercare the other day, hoping to have a look at their re-useable nappy options.....or should I say OPTION. We were really disappointed, because whilst they had a whole department devoted to nappies, they were all disposeables. There was a tiny shelf at one end with two packs of terry nappies and one ripped pack of Kushies. It did freak me out a bit - am I the only person who wants re-usables??!!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

I go on a website called babycentre.co.uk. There are loads of forems on there about different aspects of pregnancy plus a birthboard for when you are due. Someone may be able to help you with reusable nappies there. Personally I wouldn't shell out £200 and risk them not fitting.
Not sure if I am allowed to post this website but it is nothing to do with money saving and I don't gain from it. If it is against guidelines then I do apologise to the mods!0 -
Thanks for that, I've had a look on there but never used the forums, so will see if they've been discussed on there. I think it's fine to post links/website names if you aren't making money from the referral. I think it's just your signature that's not allowed to contain links as far as I know."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Hello again!
Had my first scan today and it was lovely. I got to see my baby leaping around in my tummy like a little grasshopper, and saw it's heart beating. It was really emotional - I cried all the way to work lol! The sensation of having an unbearably full bladder for two hours and then being prodded in the stomach as hard as possible (I think they do it on purpose) was not pleasant though.....ouch!!
I think I'm finally starting to believe I'm pregnant lol.
On the money-saving side of things, we've been doing fairly well, despite me having a little shopping spree the other day and spending £69 (everything I bought should have totalled £121, but I did it DFW stylee natch, with a combination of money off vouchers, and opening a store card to get extra discount. The store card has already been repaid, cut up, and the account closed:)).
I think I'm starting to feel the baby move around - it's a bit early yet (you can normally feel it from about 4 months I think, but sometimes earlier if it's not your first baby). I can feel little flutterings low down in my stomach, and they seem to happen around the same time each day. I can't wait till Mr Snaggles & DS can feel it moving too!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Ooooh can we see your scan pic please?:heart2: Mumma to DD 13yrs, DD 11yrs & DS 3 yrs. :heart2:0

Yes, of course you can - I only had a slightly blurred one on my mobile (hubby has borrowed the original to show his work mates!), but I've bluetoothed the one I've got to my computer and changed my avatar to show it - when hubby gets in I'll scan in the original and then I'll have a clearer version to show you!
In the meantime, just sort of squint at it lol!!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250
