Spirited wrote:Aww, I've just read through your thread and I'm so happy for you. We've been trying for our first for about four months though due to my irregular (and sometimes non-existant) periods I'm not surprised that I'm not pregnant yet. When you do come to weaning, make up bland food (get ideas from baby jars) in batches, freeze in icecube trays, once frozen pop into labelled bags, then pick a selection for dinner. Save the freebie sample jars for when you are out and it would be inconvient to make your own. Mashed adult food portioned out is much cheaper than buying individual jars plus you know exactly what's in it.The only things you need to buy new (and even then you can shop around for good value) are a c!!!!at and a cot mattress (if you are using one). Off hand I can't think of anything else."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

Here is the link for the BabyCentre website. It has an ovulation calculator (careful, it works!), and quite a lot of other info. I thought it had quite a bit of info about irregular periods and conception but it basically just tells you to measure your basal body temperature and cervical mucus.....:undecided. Sounds like a right barrel of laughs!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250

I too have never been on a regular cycle. When we were waiting for our first to become a blue line, I found that by taking my temperature at least I knew exactly when I had ovulated and was in that two week period proir to knowing if it was a successful month or not.
For me, it reduced the time when I was on edge waiting for my period to start.
Before I took my temperature, I seemed to be in an almost constant state of 'my period might be late and I might be pregnant' and was constantly doing false tests. Once I knew when my period was actually due rather than probably due, I saved a fortune on tests.
It didn't reduce the disappointment every unsuccessful month but it did relieve some of the pressure. Taking your temperature is a lot cheaper than all these ovulation kits and if you do it properly, just as accurate.7 Angel Bears for LovingHands Autumn Challenge. 10 KYSTGYSES. 3 and 3/4 (ran out of wool) small blanket/large square, 2 premie blankets, 2 Angel Claire Bodywarmers0 -
Well I'm feeling really miserable and sorry for myself today. I have been feeling so ill that I haven't done anything for the last 3 days. I am supposed to be working today, but was just too sick to go in. They are being sympathetic luckily, but I feel very guilty, because we are so busy at work at the moment. I did the school run this morning, but was shaking by the time I got home.
I'm trying all the things everyone has recommended, but nothing is really working except lying very still and trying to sleep through it.
I'm thoroughly fed up, but then I watch tv and see what poor Richard Hammond and his family are going through, and read the posts from people who are struggling to conceive and I just think to myself 'Oh god Snaggles, stop feeling so sorry for yourself, there are people who would kill to be in your position' and I end up on a real guilt trip.
So I think it's kick-up-the-backside time guys! Please will someone tell me to cheer up, stop feeling so sorry for myself, grit my teeth and just get on with it!
And bearing in mind that I don't seem able to cure my morning sickness, has anyone got any advice for coping with/managing the symptoms?
I promise this will be my last whinge about feeling ill!!!
In other news, Mother-in-Law has offered to buy us a.....oh, what are they called.....the things that clean your bottles.......steriliser (Little pregnancy moment there lol). I wont need it much to start with as I'm intending to breast feed for as long as possible, but once I go back to work I will either need to express or use formula, so this will be one less expense. And my hubby was clearing out one of his drawers in his bedside cabinet, and found our old baby monitors. They have yellowed a bit (why does plastic do that? No-one in our household smokes.) but still work perfectly. So we are already doing quite well with collecting the things we will need, and have spent next to nothing so far....hurray!!

Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit down Snaggles. I can't remember if I've posted on this thread before
but I've been following your news for a while
I don't think you need a kick up the backside. Yes, there are people who are in more difficult situations than you right now but you can still feel down once in a while! I've never been pregnant (very broody at the moment though) and so can't advise on the morning sickness but I'm sure its really horrible and you're allowed to feel a bit yucky and sorry for yourself!
That's great about the steriliser and baby monitors, every bit of money saved is a bonus :T

Obviously I've never had morning sickness () but have you tried sucking (don't crunch!) a polo mint. It kind of overwhelms the pre-sickness taste in your mouth and stops it becoming a post-sickness taste.Snaggles wrote:They have yellowed a bit (why does plastic do that? Because for some plastics, polymerisation is a reversable process. So over time they go back to their pre-cursors."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Guess what! Obviously the pregnancy fairy is lurking around this board because I'm pregnant too!
Splashed out on two Asda tests tonight, did one and got two VERY pink lines. Saving the other one for morning, just to convince myself!0 -
