The only thing that has worked for us in the nits dept. - despite trying everything and I mean everything, is each morning my DDs go out to school - I spray their hair with a mist of tea tree and lavender essential oils in a pump sprayer. We have done this every school day and have been nit-free for almost a year!! Yipee!!

Ita a bit american, but if you opt for the daily digest, I have found it really helpful to re-structure my life and begin to understand why eating and shopping are consolations- Good luck

On the nits front (I suspect you may be regretting adding that!), I've just noticed 2 for 1 on Hedrin at Tesco. I've posted on another board too, but not sure if it was the right one.

This has always happened to me so wasn't sure if it was wrong or not. Is there anything I can do to change it?

Hi, do you have onspeed, Redux, on the techie board told me to stop onspeed, click back on mse page, press control and F5 and this should work. If you don't have onspeed then you have to go into Tools - Internet Options- Clear your cookie and temporary files and this should help. Cheers.

Hey everyone, firstly cheers for your continuing messages, really appreciate it.
Secondly its an ohmygawd moment, as I see this post is mentioned on Martins weekly email.
Shucks, just wanted to say( re being fat) I couldn't have done it without chips................and fast food retailers........you know who you are guys, give yourself a wave, for the nits, hey well I think we've parted ways, some relationships have just had their day y'know.

And finally, tears in eyes, I wanted to say that I really, really wouldn't have been in so much debt if it hadn't have been for, (swallowing back emotion), Natwest, erm, Barclaycard, erm Egg card Green and Egg card Blue, Royal Bank of Scotland, (getting louder) Lloyds bank and finally the Student Loans Company, just wanna say thanks for being there for me guys, it's been a blast.

Anyway, aside from that, my lovely hubby is now home, not sure what the matter is, still has pain and needs further tests so it's a wait and see job.

I bought the nittygrtty comb today as the child benefit fairy had paid an early visit to my bank account and left me a little something to see me through. I have to say it's great and we appear (crosses fingers) to be nit free, will also douse her in vinegar later as well as I have some in and it's cheap. I suppose the test will be back to school time, sighs.

Obviously as I have been fairly pre occupied of late with hubby's hospitalisation, I haven't done anything particularly money saving in fact I spent the very last of the very last money that I had on the visits. Costs a fotune and apart from the devastating and emotional cost of the last few days, financially it's been a wake up call.

I'm sorry I haven't replied to many of the posts but when I do manage to get my SOA up I'll be able to give more background detail of my circumstances.

    Cheerio for now, Triker ;)

are you sure you're not an author!!! have you seriously thought about writing professionally, its as good as reading a column in the mags/papers.

I can see you on the stage now, biting your lip to keep the tears back whilst thanking all your credit card companies, that was funny (although the situation isn't).

glad hubby better, hope the vinegar dowsing doesnt set off a longing for the chips to go with it.

take care of him and yourself too

Hey Triker, just wanted to say (before I fly out the door homeward) that chips/spuds are my downfall too, despite all the exercising I do!

A lot of those cards were my best friends for years and I've managed to whittle them down to my Egg card only. It's taken me 22 years of a serious and heavy debt relationship but I've (only) got another 5 to go before my DFD finally!!.

You will get there, just take it one step at a time.

  • Apparently, the secret is to break the little beggars' legs and then they can't mate. (Well, could you?) Hence the fine toothed comb. But the conditioner is the best thing. Makes the hair smooth so they can't get a hold. They like to be at the roots to lay eggs. So with a smooth hair and broken legs they ought to give up, eh?

But don't YOU give up. You sound a great person and will get there in the end.
  • The British Heart Foundation has a free guide called "So you want to lose weight for good" which I've used before and lost a reasonable amount of weight. I found it really good as it was plain sense stuff.

The BBC website has loads of helpful advice on healthy eating and weight loss. Although you're on a budget, would it be possible to join a local sports club? I've recently started playing netball which is cheap and good fun - and very tiring! 2 hours of running around certainly makes you feel like you've got some exercise. It's also good to have other people with you to keep you motivated. I've also used a book called "The Sugar Addict's Diet" which has some good home exercise routines.

    Hope this helps...
  • I have just found a fab nit comb - it is called a nitty gritty and it gets rid of asolutely everything. If you go to their website they have a letter to print so you can get your Doctor to give you a free one on prescription. I only found this out after I had paid £9.99 for mine:eek:

I aboslutely endorse this nit comb. It's look lethal but it gets rid of loads of eggs and it is definitely worth the money.
