Into it, I put some Maths text books which DH had used when he did his A levels and degree, which I think he'd bought second hand.
He found them, and insisted that they came out of that box and were kept, "in case the boys find them useful later." (Eldest was 11 at the time.)
I said that I thought they'd get text books from school, and that anyway, they weren't likely to look at his, but he insisted, he'd sometimes found it very useful to look at a 'different' approach, and Maths doesn't change.
We still have those books, somewhere, probably in an unpacked box of books. The boys have never expressed any interest in a 'different' approach, even though they're all very good at Maths (DS2 is doing his degree in it and reads Maths text books for fun).
So you see what I'm up against!
Oh, we also had a box of used floorboard nails I wasn't allowed to throw away. I was, however, allowed to take them to a car boot sale, where I sold them for 50p, and that was OK. Trouble is I hate getting up for car boot sales ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
I find it so hard to cull my books so I had to resort to giving away the ones with the smallest print!" The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Have you thought of using Green Metropolis or Readit Swapit? Kind of eases the pain... I'm trying to brace myself to sort mine at the moment. Reckon I'll just have to bite the bullet!:) (Took 6 boxes into a charity shop last year:eek:)
I've never heard of those services but I'll investigate them. I don't buy as many books as I used to because I'm a regular at our local library." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Regarding recording PINs:I know they wouldn't need them to realise the assets, but it would be useful for them to be able to log-in to the accounts to find out how much is in them.
So
1 You die on 1 June
2 Family/executors login on 5 June to view your accounts
3 Then, on 6 June, present death certificate to bank/BS showing that you died on 1 June but somehow "you" accessed your online account on 5 June?
IMHO better to keep a spreadsheet file of all accounts - keep it up-to-date with balances and commitments and provide family/executors with password to access your computer.0 -

yes, you may be right, however one of the joys of being retired is NOT HAVING TO DO SPREADSHEETS any more - frankly I can't be bothered. I don't have to do anything more - it's all there. Up to them, they can do it or not. I won't care.0
