Hairdye - the HIP is still "valid" as such, as 99% of the info will not have changed but your solicitor will need to do updated searches (planning permission etc).

Wow hairdye, that's very quick, that's great! My offer was accepted on 17th and mortgage app being submitted tomorrow by IFA - hope we can get valuation and survey booked in as quick as that! Which mortgage provider are you with?

We are going with Nationwide. The property is empty so I think that helps with arranging surveys etc, plus the mortgage guy said because sales have been fiarly slow the survey companies can get things moving quickly!

Thanks LE3, I will wait and see what they say re: the HIP.
I am excited now! Hope everyone else gets things moving!

I have a quick question - think we are going to get the mortgage provider to do the homebuyer's report, and was wondering what other people have done about checking the boiler?

I know it isn't part of the survey, so was wondering if it is worth getting a gas engineer to check it out - I have heard this costs around £80...

    Any advice much appreciated!

    Thanks.

My home buyers said that there was no evidence of a test certificate. But I knew the boiler had a yearly service from British Gas. So I asked the EA to get the sellers to provide me with proof of the last service. I received this this morning, it was carried out in September.

Thanks Tony_R - I'll get on to the estate agent at some point and get proof of service.

    My timeline so far:

    17/05 Offer accepted
    18/05 Instructed solicitor
20/05 Mortgage application submitted and now with underwriters - they will review in next 3-4 business days when received payslips and review again when valuation and survey carried out, which is scheduled to take place on 28/05.

Financial advisor is now on holiday until 1/06 so I hope things are ok in the next week or so. I hate all the waiting!

great to see movement for everyone!

I'm going with First Direct for my mortgage & today received my "1st account" which needed to be opened first so that's good :) Searches are underway too :)

The boiler - if you aren't familiar with boilers, I would get the check done. If it's been srviced by a reputable engineer in the last 12 months it's prob ok, but it's peace of mind you are after ...
