will you mortgage company accept your survey being done by the friend?

No, but this is not for them, this is for me :)
I am aware that I will need to get the box-ticking one done for them (chances are they'll be like all the others as they drive to the end of the road & say "yup" without even getting out of the car!)

Solicitor will be fixed fee with a reduced fee if the sale doesn't go through (depending on amount of work/searches etc done so far :) )
  • thats great news, you definately seem to be on the ball with everything

good deal on the solicitors, wished i'd got that type of deal with all the issues i've had :(

    good luck

Well, all is good & it's getting very very scary now! I have instructed the solicitor this morning and have an appt to sort the mortgage out next week (very disappointed that I can't get that appt any sooner, esp as I'm ready to sign on the dotted line not just looking for AIP etc but hopefully all will go very smoothly)

wessexw - how are you getting on?

Hi LE3 - really glad that things are going well for you!!

Things not going so great for me. I do have an AIP with a particular lender but my mortgage broker decided to try one last lender before I formally applied for the mortgage. The new lender said that there's something on my credit report so they turned me down. The won't tell my broker what the problem is with the report so now I'm worried sick. I've already looked at my credit report and it seemed fine with one of the particular rating companies, the lender that I have an AIP with also did a credit check on me and they came out as fine. However it seems like this new lender did a check with a different method and something has come out :(

I'm getting in touch with the company that the lender used to check to get my own report but it will take a week or two to process :(. If only I knew what the problem was and didn't have it sitting over me for the long weekend!!

I'm in the same boat as you! Had an offer accepted on 30th April:T
I've already got my mortgage & Solicitor sorted because I was buying another property in January but the vendors pulled out less than a week before we were due to exchange - aaarrrggghhhh:mad:. Having had my fingers burnt once I'm a bit jittery!

Any chance of some moral support?

Hi blue-kitty - great to have another housebuying buddy :)
Hopefully we can keep each other sane over the next few weeks :)

Wessexw - it may just be that the 2nd company have seen a few recent searches (if the 1st co did one) and are being picky. If you are happy with the 1st aIP why not just go with that?

well, I've just received a copy of the "memorandum of sale" from the EA - along with 150 questions (ok that may be exagerating) that I need to answer. Something to do with money laundering regs ... I'll try & pop in to their office tomorrow afternoon with ID etc.

How's anyone else doing? Any movement on anything this week?

    Hi LE3

Yes I'm proceeding with the AIP mortgage and hoping for the best, my fear is that this 'bad' thing will pop up later in that lenders consideration of my formal application and make them think again :S. Anyway, nothing I can do until the get the credit report back which should be soon!

I've not had anything from my EA like you've received so far, I have just officially instructed the solicitor though and dropped my ID to them and paid initial fees for searches.
