Glad things are going so well and people are progressing - yay!

I received the environmental search yesterday - looks ok to me (although the report is very confusing, and no one likes to definitively say if something is fine or not!), and survey and valuation is being done today - eep!

I'm not sure how long left I've got to wait.

I know so far that the draft contracts have been agreed.
Today (finally) my solicitor received satisfatory answers to the questions he posed to the sellers.
We have had back the enviornmental search and chancel check which were all clear.
We have been waiting 2 weeks for the local authority search to come back. Surely must be soon, is there a way to find out the typical turnaround time? The local authority is Tandridge.

    Survey was done ages ago.
Mortgage was also done ages ago.

Still no exchange date as yet though, I can't see it being much further away?

The last two weeks have been a bit of a blur though and maybe I haven't been on top if it as I should, as my Uncle died from a brain tumour last week.

Sorry to hear about your uncle, Tony - hope your purchase goes through quickly so you have one less thing to worry about. Is there anything on your local authority's website? If not, maybe you could give them a ring?

    An update on my purchase:

The survey and valuation was carried out yesterday afternoon, and to my surprise (and my IFA's!) the Halifax issued a mortgage offer at 9pm last night - yay! Should get the survey through today but am not anticipating any problems (famous last words!).

Now trying to get a rough idea for exchanging and completing from my solicitor - I think the only search outstanding is the chancel search but I'm not sure...

I phoned the council earlier to ask what their turnaround was and he said about a day, which suprised me.

He then asked for the address, and said it was completed and sent the the solicitor on the 28th May, although the solicitor claims he hadn't received it.

The person at the coucil emailed it to me and I've now forwarded it on.

 oh how annoying! at least it's sorted now!

I got a letter today from the solicitors advising us to have an environmental search, which I presume will push things back a bit which is annoying! anyone know how long these take?

I had an environmental search done (as far as I knew it was compulsory, unless yours is a more in-depth one?). Mine took about a week to get back.

Found out this afternoon that all searches are now in - now just waiting on final enquiries from seller's solicitor. However they have just told us the seller is recovering from an accident so there is a delay in getting these answers.

Got mine back in a day, along with the Chancel.

Solicitor also informed me today that the Water and Drainage is out of date (dated March 2008) and advised about getting a new one at £35, that will take 3 days.

Wish he had mentioend it earlier!
