can your bank or EA recommend one? whihc type of survey are you having done?

I don't trust the EA so would deliberatly steer clear of any that they recommended! I'm waiting for a few different surveyor to get back to me now so fingers crossed something will come up. I want the full survey - I know the homebuyers one is cheaper but I want to play it very safe on this purchase

thats good progress........searches i think it varies by local council mine are running at 2.5wks (should have been 2 weeks)

did you ask the council this? Is there a way I can find out how long my council takes?

Looks like everyone is coming along well!

Sorry to Wessex, when I rang for quotes for a survey they were biting my hand off for the work! what area are you in?

I'm in North London hairdye, I'm rather surprised that I'm having trouble finding one, I thought with the property market being so slow that they'd be biting my hand off too!!

yea i would have thought that too! I got a quote through a website, and within a day all three had called me or emailed!

I used this site, might be worth a try?

Thanks a million hairdye, I tried the link and it gave me 4 results, despite putting in the London postcode it gave me one surveyore in Kent and another in Oxford of all places, but the other two are valid London ones so I'll check them out :)

I managed to get a surveyor at last thanks to hairdye, they said that they were unusually busy at the moment though and therefore would have to wait about 2 weeks before they can do it. Got some replies back from other surveyors too today and they wouldn't take me on at all as they are booked solid for the forseeable future!!!

What on earth is going on with surveyors in north London? :S

Have just had the results for the timber survey, and no damp, hurrah! A few bits did come up, adding an airbrick, securing floorboards and possible furniture beetle, but they quoted £740 for the work so I am not worried (plus I will obviously get more quotes once we own the place) so overall everything is going well!

Just waiting for searches, hope they come back soon!
