I've had fast4 dialup for a month now, and apart from an initial problem where they had some kind of server failure and my login details were wiped, it's been surprisingly good - I was going to transfer to virgin cable broadband but have decided not being tied to a contract is worth the slow connection so I'm staying with fast4 for a while.
Not much more for BB, i'd never go back to dail-up unless it was an area not covered by dsl or cable.0 -
With freephone numbers (0800, 0808) do you get charged after 1 hour? Or you can use it for 3-4 hours without disconnecting and still pay nothing for the call?0
-
No charge at anytime for 0800 or 0808, unless you're calling from a mobile of course!0

If you are talking about 0808 / 0800 for dial-up internet connection, they usually cut you off after 2 hours but you can redial straight away to get re-connected again.
The freefone numbers I`m talking about are issued by the ISP who you have to pay a monthly fee to.0 -
Thank you.0

Regardless of the fact that some ISP's may invoke a two hour cut-off there would not be a charge levied if you stayed on beyond two hours or whatever the cut-off point was meant to be.0 -

Has anyone had any recent experiences with MIP Cards? I've used them a year or two ago but can't remember how it went. Are they slow at busy times?0

As a firm advocate of MSE, having saved £100s on getting my council tax re-banded (thank you Martin), I tried a MIP card for getting cheap internet access. I have one word of advice....
DON'T !
They took the money, allowed me to dial up 4 times, using <£1 of my tenner, and since then haven't allowed me to log on, even though the username and password are correct.
Customer service ZERO. Replies to emails & requests for help, ZERO.
NEVER EVER use MIP. They don't have a service that can supply what they advertise.
Martin, if you do read this, it would be well worth a look to update the dial up section because many of us are now having problems with MIP. Are there any other dial ups that are more reliable and actually do what they advertise ?
Thanks,
SPHW0
