Just checked Tesco but it won't let me install because I'm running Vista.
Freedom2surf looks possible though.0 -
Do you have an account with call1899 and is it a BT line you will be using?
If so you can use Geo http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=419235 this means you would pre dial 1899 or 18185 and then the geographical number and you can connect for the connection charge of 5p for any length of time.0 -
Yes, it's a BT line but it's my mother's house so I'm not sure about registering it for 1899 - I don't have an account or a BT line.0

You register the phone number and set up the account online and that way you would be paying any costs incurred on your Mum's phone while you are there. Not knowing your Mum's telephone costs or how she uses her phone it could be a cost reducing exercise for her. As you only get billed for your usage it can lapse once your 2 weeks are up or you could register your mobile on the account and then you can send texts online for just 1p.0 -
I have used http://www.mipcards.com in the past when I have wanted dial up access via a freephone number .
The voucher costs £10 and there are two types of voucher, one that gives 2000 anytime minutes access, or one which give 30 days unlimited access (subject to a maximum of something like 150 or 180 hours).
BT Yahoo Anytime I think is still available at £1 for the first month with no annual contract or commitment beyond one month. If you do sign up to this though make sure you either cancel or switch your dial up package to pay as you go before the month is up as it is a massive £15.99 a month afterwards.0 -
With a bit of careful management the provider below might fit the bill although MiP cards may give more flexibility. Both will more or less avoid the need to register anything with anyone: https://www.free-dialup.net0

Hi,
I'm moving house next week and need to be able to access the internet. I am going to get broadband but will probably be a few weeks without so I will have to use dial-up
I've looked at the article about dial-up and it seems someone like mipcards or fast4net might be an option, I need to go online for about 2 hours a day so PAYG would be costly I think?
I only want it for around 2 weeks so don't want any sort of tie in, does anyone have experience with either of these companies? or have other suggestions?
Thanks

I've had fast4 dialup for a month now, and apart from an initial problem where they had some kind of server failure and my login details were wiped, it's been surprisingly good - I was going to transfer to virgin cable broadband but have decided not being tied to a contract is worth the slow connection so I'm staying with fast4 for a while.0
