Yes, I was told i was commiting fraud and the Police had been informed....and I have been banned from my local store, because "this isnt the first time ive had a refund" they said.....They made me feel like a criminal.

Sounds familiar. Exactly the same thing happened to me, the manageress said "I dont like the way you shop" and slapped a ban on me after telling me how she knew about the mobile phones I had got R+R'd the week before?. Yes - it really is the customers fault when they get they're prices wrong...

The funny thing is although I wrote to the store, and 4asked to have the reason explained to me in writing why I was banned, I received no reply. Why?. Because they dare not put the reason in print - trading standards would have a field day with it.

It is private property so management can pick and choose who comes in I guess, but to penalise your customers in this way purely because you have a problem with the Policy of your own company is just wrong and unprofessional.

Where else do you know that actively advertises something on a board some 6 foot by 2 feet wide on the wall behind its Customer Services, and then decides to ban people because they choose not to adhere to it when the mood takes them. That will be your local Tesco's.

Oops I am not sure if I said something wrong........If I did I apologise
I was Just giving an opinion of what I think re the policy, not from a court point of view but a way to perhaps approach HO or CS.
I think court is not wrong but to be fair they "Tesco" have a lot more money to waste.........

    Hi All
I just want to put across my personnel view on this situation.
When i first read this thread roughly 6 months ago everyone was nice to each other and helping each other find R&R's. Now whenever i come onto this thread there are pages and pages of people sniping each other and calling each other childish names.
When i saw the psp misprice i thought great and went strait to my local tesco, unfortunatly the SEL had been removed.
I personally think that tesco should refund the full amount for these consoles but if you could wriggle out of refunding £640,000 as suggested earlier would you?
I think there is a problem taking tesco to court or going to watchdog because either
    a) Tesco will end up being forced to refund the whole amount due to media interest or courts siding with buyers meaning they will remove there R&R Policy.
    b) Tesco will not end up paying out but because of the media interest this will still cause the whole of the country will learn of R&R's thus leaving the chances of luxuries that we wouldn't normally be able to afford being virtually wiped out Which i certainaly would not want Would you?

Sorry for such a long post i just had a lot to say.

  • The people moaning about not getting full refunds are pathetic.

If you want to exploit a mistake, go for it, I wouldve if I couldve been bothered, but if it doesnt work youre not entitled a full refund and the item, its up to tesco. You are entitled to a refund of the overcharge.

If anything you will just increase the chance of them changing the policy.

It really is wrong / unprofessional / and illegal? when you slap a board up the size of a door behind your Customer Service desk only to tell your customers we wont be implenting that rule today because we can't be bothered on this occasion..

As for the policy itself, its been running well over a year now, maybe 2?. I'm sure none of Tesco's customers have a problem with it, the problem lies with local management who, through their complete lack of skills, are choosing to "police" it. I'm sure Senior Management in the company are completely unaware of the way some customers are being treated. The sooner these practices are brought to their attention the better.

I have just spoken to HO they say about 2000 customers are affected.

    Wow impressive.

Two thousand people wanting X-Box's free? Time and time again people have speculated on this board over Tesco head office wising up to what people are doing. But does anyone else feel that this has/will be one hell of a wake up call. Think of the chain of events...

I'd be interested to know how many consoles Tesco sell in a week. Then compare this to how many consoles were sold between Thursday and now. And then all of a sudden 2000 people want free consoles. I'd also say that by now SOMEONE at head office will have become aware of this thread. 2+2=5? Even Tesco will realise all is not normal here...

And then people are talking about going public, newspapers, watchdog, getting martin on the case? I'm sure in those circumstances it wouldn't take much for "We regret to announce we are discountinuing the policy due to increasing abuse. We would like to assure our customers that in the event of mispricing we will still honour the cheaper price... etc..." And to be honest would the average Tesco shopper give a damn?

I'm not trying to be a doom-monger, and not trying to claim Tesco will pull the policy. But it is food for thought, will they really give away 2000 X-Box's? Someone has already mentioned "The Goose that laid the Golden Eggs"

I wonder if they will do the right thing and honour their price promise and then decide what to do about it.

A tad selfish if you ask me, why shouldn't "the whole of the country" learn about r&r what is so special about us here on mse?
And if you look back to the original thread I think you will find if it wasn't for the "likes of us" you probably wouldn't have been aware of the policy.
