SEL = shelf edge label.0

sandybrag wrote:Actually, you've almost hit it on the head. The reason why management take it so personally, and become so awkard when asked to implement R&R with high value goods especially it seems, is because, I believe every R&R is recorded as a "Loss" against that store.
This loss is recorded electronically, which in turn is fed back to Tesco HQ. Big losses then hit the store "performance", and this reflects badly on ultimately the Store Manager, and management below them. This in turn may mean they miss out on that annual bonus, or extra pay rise?. Who knows.
But you are quite right. The policy exists in Tesco stone, everything is above board, so why the big deal, why the need to go to the extreme measures of physically banning people from your store?
I believe what I have explained above, is the sole reason and motivation for the reaction of local management, and the extreme action that is taken as a result to stop people.
(Some) Tesco managers do all they can to avoid R&R, and we do all we can to get it. Basically it is a game, and like all games - some you win, some you lose.
The thing is, is it better to admit defeat and get on with the next game, or to argue about the result of the current game and risk having the whole tournament called off?0 -

A game?. But dont games have rules too?. And if a player does not obide by the rules, aren't they called a cheat?.
This isn't a game. You don't speak to your customers the way some people here have been spoken to and "ban" them from your shop because they dont play your "game".
I'm not convinced. There's a good reason and motivation why customers are being treated this way. I believe it's financial, and I believe individual stores are being monitored and these R&R's tracked and logged into a league table of sorts. Managers know this and that's why they get so miserable when called to authorise these.
Some people argue why don't HO intervene. Head Office is more like a Call Centre. They will call the store and advise how it should proceed - but they have no authority to override a stores decision if it refuses to go that way.0 -

Yes, games have rules.
But both sides bend the rules to suit their own ends.
Sometimes it is better to lose the battle but win the war. i.e. if we don't p!ss Tesco off too much the R&R game will be around for us all to play for many years to come.
But if we (collectively) do p!ss them off then who knows what will happen in the future?
On the point of head office, they do not have authority to overrule a local store manager, but they can be a great help in getting decisions overturned f you are in the right and are not trying it on.0
