Tesco will if they change the policy !

I work for a Tesco that has a certain Mr S******* who makes full use of the R&R policy ( and why not)..However recently he has been badgering staff at random ( see how you or your other half would like to be treated like a piece of dirt). He also visited another store and claimed to work for Trading standards dept but left when he could not produce ID.
Back at our store....After trying to take pictures of staff and stock he was asked to stop .
He was so incensed and complained ( as is his right) to Trading standards who came and checked 300 prices...they found only 1 problem* and no illegal prices.

So come on Mr S ...play nice and get your free stock and maybe a life!.

    Paul

    * a pack of fish advertised 4 fillets (500g) and there were actually 5 in all packets Mr s had bought (weighing nearly 550g)..apparently we won't be prosecuted this time but we have been advised to contact HO and change description to a "minimum" of 4...whew I wouldnt want the customers to be misled by giving free stock....:rotfl:

Although, then people might go direct to Trading standards instead of trying R+R and potentially cost Tesco a hefty amount more £££

    But will they

How many of you have gone to TS when Asda or Sainsburys overcharge you ? I know I never have.
The point is we kick up a stink re Tesco 'cos we see the chance of an R&R.
I have read dozens of posts on MSE this week re Sainsbury overcharging, esp re the multi offers - buy 2 for £5, buy 2 get second half price etc. Not only do they NOT get R&R ( cos it is no longer their policy) but they seem reluctant to even refund the overprice, claiming the 2 items are not the ones specified etc, even when they clearly are.
OK Lots of MSEr are on here complaining, but if they were also complaining to TS, how come Sainsburys arn't groaning under the weight of fines etc.
Although we might claim we would go to TS just to punish Tescos, if you are not benefiting directly yourself, how many of us would bother ?
On Friday night when you have been overcharged you may rant and fume, by the time TS opens on Monday morning you won't want to waste your time.

Now that many people are totally p!ss@d off, I think I'll say for the 1st time ever that I actually agree with Tesco.

I have seen the following sign / poster in a few stores and it states in effect:
'Save £20 on our psp game of the week when bought with a psp console'

This means that if you buy the console you are entitled to £20 off of the game. If you don't get the discount, you should be entitled to a free game and no more. It is not the same as a bogof or similar, and Tesco's lawyers would have an easy job defending the sign if anyone actually dared to take them to court.

I know people have been interpreting the sign differently - basically to match what they want - but if I was Tesco' top dog I would certainly refuse to pay out.

Unless of course there really is a different sign out there.

Having said the above, good luck to everyone, and let's hope you all get the refunds (make sure you don't open either the game or the console until all is resolved because they could then refuse to even take it back!)

No, the signs in the locals definitely all said £20 off Xbox 360/PS2 & Game before last week. No mention of the game of the week. I think it would have worked before, but no-one here thought to try it (as we were all waiting for the offer to end, not realising that the offer was flawed by the POS).

The game chart I saw yesterday was dated the 18th of August....This was a top 20 chart with a box saying "Buy a PS2 console with Over the Hedge game" and get £20 off.....so it was definately on show a week gone yesterday..........
I think there have been different POS in different stores. None of my locals have carried the "With the game of the week" POS, let alone anything saying what the game of the week is!

As stated in my previous posts, there really are different signs out there. My stores don't have that sign. Their signs read "£20 off Xbox360/PS2 & Game". Nothing in there about "when bought with the game of the week", and it clearly states the money is off both items (use of "&").

I don't think any store has that POS up at all....and its the fact that you used the phrase 'Words to that effect'.

In my store it said 'Save £10 when bought with a PSP' and 'Save £10 on game AND PSP' (which was removed)

They should be more careful with their wording OR, make sure the tills take off the discount.

I would be very interested to see what the receipts said when the offer was working....

    Hello to all
Sorry but just joined now and wonder where you think I stand since I bought a PS2 and the game of the week (Reservoir dogs)as stated and did not get my £20 reduction again as stated on THEIR charts.

Tesco will if they change the policy !

If they change their policy they are admitting to the world that they have been overcharging their loyal customers and have failed to rectify it. Further to this they will be saying that will carry on overcharging with no redress to the customer. How many will stay loyal after that?

I don't think it will ever happen. This policy has been in place since day one and it is the backbone of tesco history and pride. To change the policy would mean massive loses to them. Not enought to break them but it will certainly knock them down a couple of steps down the ladder and for what? A few hundred thousand pounds a year R&R's, if that.

It would cost them thousands just to change all the policy posters around all their stores.

The waste bourne by tescos for r&r is negligable, in comparison. I admit that it does affect profits but not substantially.

They would have to pay for new advertising as well.

NEW ADVERT: In the unlikely event that you have been overcharged, then tough shi*. Tesco.....Every little helps (for our shareholders).

You stand as much chance as the rest of us mate, join the queue.

Take it back to your tesco and complain in the first instance and see what they say.
