Healthy Living Haddock Fillets, SEL £6.58/Pack £6.64/kg. R&R given with very bad grace, muttering of "Oh for gods sake it's only 6 pence" and attitude as if I'd ripped the food out of her kids' mouths - and this after I'd politely reminded her of store policy after she said she couldn't do anything about it because packs were priced up before they came to the store.
Also overheard store manager discussing missprices with staff member and loitered to listen......couldn't catch much but gist of conversation was "Keep doing what you're doing, check every aisle every morning and we'll keep up this excellent record of avoiding R&Rs" Also heard the word "boards" but didn't get the sentence and it could have been anything. There were also two "suits" going along the aisles, checking off prices against a list and moving SELs
Am happy now....my first R&R!:D
Phone up Head office about bad grace and attitude, name and shame them, then IF they get a call from Head Office they might think twice about doing the same to next overcharged customer0 -
Constantine, Ben500, and eveyone else, thanks for your input and replies.
The point I was making was not about the everyday r&rs and misprices, and the dwindling of them in our local stores. I was looking at this from a higher level and thats why I questioned Constaintines reply that 'they don't do this, I wish they would'. (Which I can see from her point of view why she makes that wish). The point I was trying to get across is that I cannot 'see' from a corporate social responsibility, that pricing integrity, profit and loss etc is not monitored within HQ. This site is available for all to see, after all, we found it. You only thave to google 'Tesco Misprices' to find these threads, so if we can find it, whats to say that others cannot, specifically those that monitor prices at HQ. Admittedly, I'm not saying this is someones full time job to watch and stare at this MSE thread and say 'hey mate, we've got another one, quick can you check that and get it rectifed' but there must be something in place.
I fully accept and respect your comments but I do stand firm in believing that big brother (sometimes) views/monitors this thread.
Overcharges...
This follows a report by the independent retailers group RGDATA which contained allegations of overcharging customers. The report shows that customers in six Tesco stores were overcharged by an average of 3% on some items last week.
In a statement today, Tesco said that any incident of incorrect pricing on products is unacceptable and it takes any such incidents very seriously. It said that during a transition to new checkout systems this year, it appears that a larger than usual number of price inaccuracies may have arisen, but these are being steadily eliminated.
Tesco said that it operates a policy of automatically reimbursing customers on a "no quibble" basis when incidences of overcharging are discovered. The company has given an undertaking to the director of consumer affairs that the situation will be sorted out speedily.
"We do not 'overcharge' customers", said Tesco group corporate affairs director Lucy Neville Rolfe. Tesco is Britain's biggest grocer. (This written in 1999.....:rotfl:)0 -

I'm not too sure what this manager seems to have done wrong to warrant a complaint to Head Office? From the post it seems he was congratulating/instructing a member of his team to keep checking that prices are consistent with the labels. Is this not a good thing, ensuring labels are right and customers are not overcharged?0 -

Think that refers to the first paragraph.Who or what was I before you came in to my life

Indeed it was......all the staff at my local branch are usually brilliant - all very with it, friendly and helpful. It's rare to get a moody one like this woman!
And even though it doesn't help the search for an R&R, the manager should be congratulated as they are obviously doing their job very well.0 -
After looking around Tesco's for R&Rs, was sorely disappointed in not finding even one for the fourth week in a row. however, after check out - i did my cursory glance at that bill and found that a reduced price item had been charged at the full price. It was only 55p but I wanted to lose my R&R virginity gently, so headed over to the CS counter. While waiting, I checked to make sure that I knew exactly where to point in the Tesco promise statement should I have a problem with the R&R. Imagine my suprise when I saw a strip of printed paper stuck below "if things dont add up" statement which said "This is not applicable to Special Promotion items". Nearly gave up since my item was on reduced price and this might be deemed as a special promotion, but I was so angry that I was not going to get my first R&R that I waited to try anyway.
When I explained the overcharge, the cs guy started rattling the difference to be refunded on the till at which time I pointed to the promise and asked for the full refund. A little muttering under the breath, but obliged with the full refund even though I did catch him say something that it was not applicable for special promotions.
Question is - are they right in putting that condition to their promise ? It seems that most of the R&Rs come from the special offers so if this is legal they will be able to reduce R&Rs drastically. Have a good mind to write to head office and complain if this is something that the store manager has come up with to reduce R&Rs. Would like to know what the R&R experts think.
The store is in Brent Park (next to IKEA) and this statement coming up means that there is plenty of R&Rs there and that i have been unlucky not to get any.
Sorry about the long post.I have learnt that living life to the fullest gives you a much better high than alcohol or drugs !0 -

Load of rubbish. You should have stuck to your guns and demanded that head office be called. They would have backed down and given you r&r.
Give HO a ring anyway.

Maybe the 1987 Consumer Protection Act doesn't apply to special promotion items either? :rolleyes:Jim.0
