You are paid by the company and your annual pay rise is determined by company profits. Your free shares are also determined by company profits. Your whole position is governed by company profits. The less profit a company makes the less staff it can afford to employ. If your job role entails giving away company profits then it directly affects your pay, free shares and indirectly your job security. If you can really say that you would be happy giving money away under these circumstances then there must be something wrong with you....after all it is actually your money or at least some of it is.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

Whilst I agree generally with this, it does not take into account the fact that Tesco has the policy and part of the customer service role is to employ the policy. Unless of course there is an unwritten role of minimising loss!Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

AFAIK there is no unwritten rule. Yes there is the policy but i was trying to show why the CS staff would be bothered and have a problem with giving money away...if it was your own business would you just give money away????Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

No I wouldn't but I wouldn't overcharge my customers either. As for the cs staff I accept your reasoning that they would have motive to refuse r&r what I don't accept is their deriliction of their obligation to the customer and their employer.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -

If it was really down to that reason, Spa, you and I both know there'd be a hell of a lot less waste per store. Waste affects profits of the individual store, which affects profits of the company as a whole. However, Tesco has an unbelieveable amount of waste per store. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?

i dont want to enter into a debate... but maybe tesco has put the r & r policy in place.....either to try and make sure the staff are doing their job properly or not... so when r & r's are given head office can keep tabs on the individual stores with high refunds....as obviously these stores are lacking in....basic....pricing.....awareness...
another thought.. is it to woo.. the public into a false sense of....comfort...regarding pricing..... to make them think that tescos very rarely charge the wrong price, .cause let be totally honest.... how many time have you had a conversation... or heard people say that they never check prices.....i know quite a few people.... as they hate shopping.... and just want to go in get their bits....and get straight back out as soon as poss....
i feel with us lot looking and doing the r & r's are actually doing a community service....to keep tescos from overcharging.......
and one last thing.....HURRAY..... someone has actually had the organic stilton cheese on r & r i might get some tomorrow and give it to my chickens....as now its starting to annoy me now...as its staring me in the face... every time i go to the cheese fridge...:eek:Work to live= not live to work0 -

I found it wasn't worth the hassle of getting things just for the sake of it, and raising my profile at the CS desk (only 1 big T's in my area). Please don't be offended or think I'm having a go, its just my opinion. However you can take the case back no problems! I've done it many times for things I don't want.
well it wasnt just that it was free, there were some £19.99 binoculars available with date 16/08/06 too but I thought that I didn't need binoculars, whereas I could do with a camera case really! But then I just thought, I wouldn't have bought it today if I hadnb't thoguht it was free, I would have waited til I go on holiday and need a camera case or something!
I respect your opinion and didn't think you were having a go. In fact I particularly like the fact that you were honest and said you used to take all you could!!!
I'm just going to use this technique on things I would normally buy though - lots of meat for example! I'm always going to search meat, cheese and fish aisles because it seems easy to find them on these types of products as they have price per kgs etc. When I find one, I will buy more than one pack of the meat, as I think that is justifiable! Like my first R & R today - i found cod loins SEL £9.98/kg and pack price £10.98/kg. So I picked up two of them, paid and then got both refunded no probs. I think it's fair to expect to buy two packs of something!
This will certainly make my weekly shopping trip more enjoyable anyway!
My signature was so out of date and I can't think of a new one!0 -

Effectively giving compensation for money unlawfully obtained by their employer.
Politeness and apologies to the victim of this illegal act should be appropriate.Jim.0
