Many people on this site and thread maintain that there are a huge amount of refund going on due to this sites exposure of the R&R policy.....if there is a huge amount of refunds then it will affect company profits....

With the banks, their policies will eventually change with the more people that claim their charges back, financially it will not be worth the initial high penalties that the banks insist on charging.....jumping on the bandwagon....are we all lemmings now??

You alone have taken £179 from the company since 26/7, that is a dent in the profits...a miniscule one granted but a dent none the less.

One more point...another person who says the profits Tesco make are excessive but continues to contribute to them.

That £80.00 MP3 player i had last night really wasnt worth the money,i probably only cost tesco a tenner for which they paid for it.

    according to http://www.answers.com/topic/fraud

Can you prove that the errors are deliberate? If so then i suggest that you call the fraud squad....if not then you need to review the wording within your posts.

There are no doubt pricing errors within the store that I work in, some even the fault of my department however I can guaruntee that NOT one of them is the result of fraud. There is no deliberate attempt to defraud ANY customer of money.

Politeness and kindness should however be shown to all customers that exhibit the same.....

I take your point with regards to intention at the point of sale. However for CS to then deny (and from reading this thread in some cases deliberately?) the victims of unlawful trading practices rights to a full refund while keeping the products as promised - what is that?

To be fair, I agree with spa2k here. I don't think I'd be too happy at handing out "free money", and I'm sure that no employee or branch is overcharging deliberately.

The flip side for me is that if it wasn't for r+r i wouldnt bother going to Tesco at all, as it means a trip into town when I have several other supermarkets nearer, so what I gain from Tesco in r+r, I give back to them in profits on other items that I wouldn't otherwise be buying from them.

Just had my 1st R&R this evening and made sure it was worth it. Went to look for the BT Synthesis phone above and could not find it. Found SEL on SanDisk memory cards out of date 13/08/08. Took a couple different ones to the counter, asked for the price, scanned £49.99, SEL £47.98, bingo! Didn't buy then. Went back and cleaned the shelf, picked up 4 1GB memory cards. After paying £199.88, went to the car, took a deep breath and returned to break my virginity (in R&R). CS woman seemed shocked at the scale of this. She asked one of the staff to go with me to show the SEL. He explained the R&R policy to me and I acted as I was very surprised and pleased. Staff took the SEL to CS desk. They phoned manager and he authorised payment in full. But then they sent another member of staff to me, lovely lady, explaining the policy is we don't pay out in this case as the SEL shows date 13/08/08 and this covers us only to pay if we get it wrong up until the 13th. I asked for her name and said I would contact Head Office with your name..... and guess what she started to retreat saying that's what I've been taught but the manager is on his way to see you. Waited another 15 mins. Manager came and he started waffling about the date on the SEL. I countered him by showing the policy at the exit door, and mentioning what the staff had quoted me earlier. Eventually after 45 mins. at CS desk i got my 1st R&R £199.98, 3 SanDisk MMCmobile 1GB memory cards and 1 San Disk memory stick pro duo 1GB memory card. It was late but well worth it.

    which store was this at?

spa, im not sure why an employee of tesco would but annoyed at a customer for getting an R&R despite the things you are saying, if you think about it, for every person that R&R's there has to be at least a few thousand that dont and gets overcharged, mind you i dont see the CS desk jumping with joy that they are overcharging people (maybe theyre just used to it now). In the same instance that they dont jump for joy they cant go "huffy" on people using a policy put in place by their own company. If anything i would be thinking "well done mate! but goodness me my employers might want to think about changing the policy?". I cant seriously believe that people using the R&R policy would ever directly affect a persons wage because as i said if thats the case peoples wages would equally be getting topped up by every unbeknowing person being overcharged every minute of every day.

I challenge you on this one.

You are paid by the company and your annual pay rise is determined by company profits. Your free shares are also determined by company profits. Your whole position is governed by company profits. The less profit a company makes the less staff it can afford to employ. If your job role entails giving away company profits then it directly affects your pay, free shares and indirectly your job security. If you can really say that you would be happy giving money away under these circumstances then there must be something wrong with you....after all it is actually your money or at least some of it is.

awe come on! they must have some sort of "Fund" to cope with R&R's otherwise they wouldn't have it as one of their policy's, and at the end of the day if staff are not doing their job and updating SEL's then they shouldn't be getting any of the cushty little benefits they are given!!

In my eyes R&R is a method that HQ probably use to assess the efficiency of various stores. The less that is refunded the better the store. The more that is refunded is an indication to the store and area managers that there are problems to resolve.

IME most of the R&R's get put through on the till as 'waste', and that includes hardware/games etc. Surely this is just a tax write off for Tesco? It's a bit like the fruit & veg, some of it goes out of date/rotten and can't be sold so it's 'written off'. Seems like most Tescos class the R&Rs as a 'write off' as well. Difference here is it actually HAS been sold, just not at the correct price. :D Whether they should or not is not for me to say, of course. I'm still of the opinion that for every person who gets R&R for being overcharged I bet there are many many people who get overcharged and don't even notice. And when Tesco have been known to overcharge on GBA games to the tune of £15 (or 100%!!), it wouldn't take many of them in a day to pay for us greedy R&R'ers.
