Bdaggers wrote:Basically you either scan the time at the "price check" point (if there is one), or at a self service till or get a cashier to check it. But if the SEL is out of date you have a pretty good chance of an R + R without worrying too much - the prices get changed automatically on the system but the shelf edge labels dont get updated by the staff. Human error at its most profitable. (for us)
Ah, thats wat me and my friend just thought, they have those price check scanners dotted around the end of the aisles in larger tescos don't they?
If you have to ask a member of staff to check the price, is it best to do it sneakily in case they realise that the advertised price is wrong?!?
Going to go to tesco's shortly to have a little looksie!
My signature was so out of date and I can't think of a new one!0 -
Another way of finding a potential overcharge is to find an item that has 2 different prices (as already mentioned).
Once you find two labbels for the same product you need to look at the barcode on the bottom, in particular the last 2 numbers.
These numbers are the issue number.
Therefore the higher the number the newer the price.
I.e the highest number is most likely the correct price, so you can work out if an R&R will apply.
Hope that makes sense and helps.Watch out, you never know who is about.0 -
thanks for that info... i am not up to date with games etc...i leave all that to the kids.. they just love it when i come home with games ....
at the mo.....i havent had a real biggy so..... anthing is better than nothing..

Just had an idea in relation to the £20 saving with the playstations and xbox.
The deal states save £20 when you buy the console and game of the week together.
It does not say that the game of the week has to be related to the specific console you are buying, if you see where im coming from.
Im sure it will cause huge arguments at tesco`s but its a loop hole none the less.
Goodluck.Watch out, you never know who is about.0 -
adypem wrote:Just got back from lunch and couldn't find the MP3 player, but I did find 2 packs of lamb chops SEL £3.40/lb, pack price was £3.93/lb. CS lady tried to say I shouldn't look at that and just look how much the pack was.... I quickly said - then why are there 2 different prices..... R&R of £8.24 and two packs of lamb chops ready for the freezer
CS staff always have to have explained that a dearer price per KG on the pack means i am being charged more overall than the shelf.
Oh but the price matches doesnt work. I once said: if Tesco paid you less per hour than your contract, you would be underpaid wouldnt you?0 -
There is a thread (somewhere) that has a list of all the stores with price check points and their location within the store - hopefully one of the experienced Moneysavers could link to it please ? (I`ve looked ......)
BTW, just because the store HAS a scanner or two, doesnt mean that one (or any) will actually be working ! In my experience its best to monitor the situation at a number of stores and use them as necessary.
There is some fantastic advice on previous pages guys (and gals) - well worth an hour or so to read some of the old stuff.Badgers badgers badgers .......0 -

I reckon the Xbox 360 will be enough of an argument - cant see you winning it on a PS2 IMO.
(surely the 360 is the best option anyway ?Badgers badgers badgers .......0 -
The offer is on the ps2 also, so either way it will be justified, or not.Watch out, you never know who is about.0

I know who I'd believe on this one. (My personal view and not a dig at Spa).
I work in IT and on most of the retail contracts I have done, they have been timed for a certain time. I do not know about specific times that the stores have to display or change SEL's. Spa's your man for that one.
Knowledge is gained through doing the job and with all due respect I have yet to see a buyer working in a price integrity department!!
On the topic of when do the prices update, i have yet to see the system be so efficient as to update the prices a few minutes after midnight......ask the people who queued all night for the half price garden furniture what time the updates happen...Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
I don't exist, it is merely your imagination.

Can I ask, what happens if you take an item to the till and buy it but it scans in the till as cheaper than it says on the SEL?0
