cheers bluegh, could you ask for a refund though if you didnt really want it and only thought you were getting it coz its free??

that's wat i wanted to know.

eg, i just got a digital camera case that said offer expired 16/08/06, but took it to the til and got it for the cheaper price. Fair enough, but I didn't really need to buy a digital camera case today, I just did it because I thought I might as well whilst it was free.

I'm going to try taking the item back this week. I think they might accept it back if it's in same condition and tags on etc. I'll just say "oops, it's not the right size for my camera"

But read the comments above - the price isnt reduced, just a special offer "£20 off" expiring. SEL will remain the same, but £20 wont come off. Or am I missing something obvious here ?:doh:

in addition to the above i would also like to know what happens if there is a SEL which is supposed to expire yesterday and has not been removed - will I be able to get an R&R if the item is charged at the higher price ? What argument can I use if the CS people point out that the SEL was valid only for purchases yesterday and before ?

Just point out to them that "had you removed the sel when it ran out then you wouldn't be refunding my money and allowing me to keep this product, that is your policy I believe"

Yep, you're missing something. Did you see my reply to you in the Discussion thread? The SEL in my local Metro makes no mention of the £20 game deal. It has a yellow SEL which reads "Xbox 360 Premium 279.97 offer ends 17/08/2006". Same thing (but different price) for the Xbox360 Core. In other words, the Metro store is running a different offer to the one you're talking about. I did say this on the other thread, by the way.

Strangely enough, it's 279.99 on Tesco.com. I wonder if the Metro will overcharge me by 2p? I don't think I'd have the guts to argue a 2p overcharge on an Xbox360 premiun.

Can I just ask..... do you guys go to the supermarket and specifically set out to find R & Rs? Or do you just so happen to notice them and then cash in on them as and when?

This is exactly what happened to my friend this afternoon. Two BT Zenith cordless phones, SEL £89.99, charged at £99.99. CS argued that the offer expired yesterday and it was stated on the SEL, so would only honour the price difference.

Fair `nuff - point taken. I never shop at a Metro so havent seen their signage. Cant understand why they would have a different offer to the Extras tho ???
