I can assure you that all of my friends who have children don't let their kids run wild in pubs/restaurants, and neither do we.
Ah, the old "I don't, so no one else does and this therefore isn't true" argument...
Fact is, it's true whether you do or not. Maybe you and your friends do control your kids, but an awful lot of people aren't as thoughtful as you.0 -
i think its a British thing to expect kids to be seen and not heard when out
i dont drink so im never in a pub with my little boy but having been in places in Mainland Europe it seems many countries are happy for kids to be kids
maybe thats where our unhealthy drink culture starts
Spot on I feel, other countries are much more tolerant of kids being kids.0 -

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that's perhaps because behaviour is better? We do seem to have a 'go play and don't bother me' attitude towards our young sometimes, and kids are not supervised as much?
Europeans seem to embrace children more, and they are an integral part of any family group which results in better behaviour.
Oviously, I'm generalising greatly but my experience of children in pubs etc here hasn't been very positive and tantrums are rife. I think perhaps that taints our views toward all kids even the poor souls who are well behaved.Herman - MP for all!0 -

2) Some kids DO have to cry to let a parent know there is a problem because they have no other way of communicating.
3) Physically assaulting a child because its crying isn't really a solution now is it? Finding out exactly why its crying is so much more constructive don't you think?
1) The OP would have said in their post.
2) There is always other ways of communicating. My mum told me I couldn't speak (properly) til I was 3 (still can't though lol)! Yet I could tell her there was a problem with 'bub ba' and point.
3) Oh give it a break. Finding out I completely agree with but the fact is, this kid was quite clearly hungry and the kid still kept crying! The parents couldn't have easily asked for bread. If the kid kept crying after that, you would just let it?
And yes, in other parts of Europe they may let their children run around screaming etc., but this isn't the other part of Europe, this is England.0 -

Please, if you ever have kids, or if you do, pray to God you never run into me on a plane or a restaurant.
I have kids, funnily enough I didn't assault them because they were hungry....
I assume from your posts it was your head your mother smacked you around because I think she did some damage.0 -
