Then, without wishing to appear unsympathetic, and knowing the posts others have endured ( I am thinking about one poster in particular who had her child maligned) I can only assume PP's tolerance was tried by posts other than the ones we have seen, and over a period of time, and that this this was the final straw, rather than the original weight.:D
Maybe, who knows? Having just re-read the complaint thread made against her, on a board for all to see instead of by email to abuse, and the way it was worded, I definitely cannot blame her for not having just lain down and taken it.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
OMG What is going on. The OS board was one I always enjoyed browsing. I don't know what has been said but Penelope I do want to let you know I have always enjoyed your posts, you have a wealth of knowledge and understanding and your practical advice was always well thought out. You always came across as kind and thoughtful and your dedication to this board has been second to none, how you manage to fit it all in to your busy life always amazed me, but I'm grateful you did.
I can understand that you want some time away from the board to recuperate but please don't forget you have enlightened and helped many many people on here and we will all miss you.
Please Please don't stay away too long.
Keep Smiling

So, you agree that it should not have been closed? No I think it was the right course of action, it unfortunately, probably due to the nature of all concerned, caused the arguments to drag on, but the person who closed it was not to have known, i had always assumed that the closure would be a temporary thing until the forum tean had a chance to look at it and delete any offending messages, which hapened in due course, and has happened before. Also don't forget it was a weekend day and might have been dealt with a bit quicker mid week.
Just wanted to add here that as far as I can remember PenPen stated something along the lines of she was closing the thread for now
and that abuse would have seen that too? I dont know either way really, not had too much experience with threads being closed and re opened. I refer to that thread not the one which was closed and not re opened. I was annoyed because I had objectedthe BG responded and then to avoid further response promptly closed the thread. To be honest with you I think she closed the thread to save any further disruption, and prevent any other potential "bullying" or abuse not to aviod discussion with you, in fact I was in the middle of posting when it was closed, she probably hadn't even seen the last post until she pressed submit.
Had it been a simple "goodbye" I would agree,:) but it was anything but, in fact a rather contentious post (by design I assume) which was bound to attract comment and discussion about the content, not the position of the OP.
I think it's time to let this lie all the OSers' eyes must be bleeding by now. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -

But if you look at the posts there were no "offending" messages, dissenting ones yes, but not offending or offensive. That was what I objected to .

Fair enough, but when you cannot respond it is annoying.

I am not sure I follow your logic about it being the right course of action, but that you are confident the abuse team would have re opened the thread.
By re opening a thread they are saying in their opinion it was incorrectly closed or that there were posts which needed removing, there were no rude posts so that only leaves the other option.
Which was my point and my contention.:D0 -
Hi Penny
I have been away from my computer since last night, and have now caught up on the events to date.
Penny, I just wanted to say I hope you feel better after taking a break, and are back with us soon for business as usual.:A You and Pink have both done an awful lot to help me personally and I wanted to ensure you are aware of how very genuinely greatful I am for the support you have given me in the past (and will hopefully continue to in the future.):D Hope to see you back here soon :j
Note - I will not be commenting on any specifics, and will not be drawn into discussion of the past days goings on.
Lots of love Penny :kisses3:

There were posts that needed removing and they have been, the one where I referred to snobbish attitudes, MrsE's one where she said that i called her a snob, and that that in itself was bullying. Those were the contentious posts which were reported to abuse and have subsequently been deleted, causing the thread to be reopened! If there has been no question they would have left these possibly inflammatory posts in! I am off now as yu could quite obviously have an argument in an empty room! And I say that with no malice just an exasperated expression. See you back on the families board no doubt!

:rotfl:presumably it takes one to know one.:p Surely it can be termed an exchange of views rather than an argument? that is where lots of people go wrong, you can disagree without malice or rudeness.
The thread wasn't closed because of those posts it was closed because the topic was concerned with the rights of posters to make points about closures and the rights and wrongs thereof.0 -
I dont think Mods ( or boards guides ) should be posters tbh there is bound to be a conflict of interests
I find that quite offensive to be honest, I have been a BG for years and I think I can safely say I have never used my "powers" to win an argument.
Why should we not post we have opinions and advice to offer, sometimes we need help and support too?0 -

Posters are like sheep they follow what others have said ...............
I strenuously object to this comment. Posters are not 'like sheep'.
(As an aside: As a Christian i don't mind being a 'sheep' ....Jesus says to Peter 'feed my sheep' (his people, his flock) and Jesus does not refer to his followers in this way because they are dumb or mindless, but because Jesus goes all out to bring to safety the one sheep who goes astray...hence, his sheep are imortant = we as individuals are important and he will go to any lengths necessary to save us.)
Your inference is that forum members are in some way mindless and unthinking and incapable of cognitive thought, this i object to.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
