OS has been vile this afternoon. I've been honoured to be a Board Guide here, but today has been the last straw.

I'm not perfect, I make as many (probably more) mistakes than most posters, but I am human. I've been deeply hurt by some of the posts made today, and the time has come to post what the effect of spiteful and vindictive posts, made on an anonymous internet forum, has on me, and I'm sure other BGs when it's their turn for Bash a Board Guide.

I have been sobbing my heart out for the last couple of hours over comments made towards me today. I was pretty much fine, until I was compared on another board to Hitler. That was a spiteful and wicked thing to write. The poster should be thoroughly ashamed of herself, Whatever my failings, that is well below the belt, and not a comment you would dare to say to my face.

I know that I'm a thoroughly decent human being - I have a wonderful husband, and 2 of the most delightful teenagers you could wish to meet; I have a science degree and a PhD; I work part-time for a charity, helping the most vulnerable members of my community in very difficult circumstances; I;m a good cook, my chocolate cake is to die for; and thanks to the Flyladies :A my home is clean and tidy. And do you know what, contrary to the opinion of some, each and every decision I made as a BG was for the good of the site, and especially the posters on OS.

I'll be taking a break from MSE for the time being. Thank you to everyone who's been my friend - there are far, far more of you than the rest. This isn't a plea for sympathy, and my PM box filled this afternoon, and won;t be emptied any time soon. It's time to put my family first, and I'm not keen for my children to see their mother like this for no good reason again.

Try not to take it to heart - I've been where you are, I was a moderator on another board and it was very hard work. Have some time out, go for a nice walk and in a few days time you will wonder what you got so het up about.

Penny that sounds terrible what has happened to you but do you know - people who cause this kind of hurt have serious problems themselves. I would just disassociate yourself from any comment that has been made about you.

I am sure you are a very lovely lady and you sound extremely kind.

Other people can be rude ignorant and generally disgraceful but their lack of manners should tell you more about them - they are obviously very sick and lonely, angry people.

Whatever they say - focus on the posters on here who enjoy the site as you clearly have for some time and don't stay away!

Stay on here and get some support for a change.

Please try and put this person down as a sad lonely individual who will clearly stay that way.

Thank you for all your work as a board guide - you will be missed.

I find it so sad that people could stoop so low, especially as it was said by someone who were trying to protect from alleged bullying

PenPen I haven't seen the abusive posts, I just want to say that I'm so sorry to hear you've been on the receiving end. I've appreciated your contributions. I'm so glad you're prepared to give mse a second chance despite this and look forward to seeing you on the boards again when you've had a break.

You've done nothing wrong hun. You've stood up for decency and honesty and you've done well.

In my eyes you're an excellent board guide (as are the others on this thread) and it's not fair when you (or any of the others) get slated. It's certainly not fair to compare you to Hitler! In fact, that smacks of bullying which was the thing you were trying to stop!

Don't cry any more over it. You are definitely a decent human being. Those who accuse you of being otherwise are just not worth the angst. In fact they probably enjoy the fact they've caused it which probably makes them a bully in the truest sense.

Deep breaths love. Don't do anything rash, we need you xxx

Penelope P, have no idea what has been posted but very sorry you feel this way. I have enjoyed your posts in the past and found them very useful. Please don't take this to heart and let it upset you Pen.

Hi PP, I'm not one of the more regular posters on here but when I saw your post, I just had to come on to say that your work & that of all the Board Guides has been very much appreciated. I don't know all the details of what happened this afternoon, but if it was published in newsprint then it would be tomorrows chip paper (or seeing this is os, then it would be used for cleaning windows!)
Really hope you feel a bit better about everything tomorrow. You've been a real star giving up your time to help everyone & I for one am grateful.

Penelope I'm so sorry this has happened and I feel partly responsible, and feel terrible for you. I think you should not be scared away but can understand why you would want to do this. I did not see what was on the other board, but the stuff on here was strong enough. Please take time to regroup and come back, refreshed and renewed.

Aw hun, you poor thing. Some people are just in a polite way, fools.
You on the other hand are one of the most nicest people i have met online.
Please don't take it to heart, because i can honestly you are not hitler and that other person should be reported.
