And while we are at it, Penelope starting a thread called "Gastronomy without the Economy!" was another over the top reaction.

Anyone that was advocating enjoying a few of the finer things in life was NOT suggesting WITHOUT the enonomy, which is indeed why I started the "Food for pleasure & Economy Gastronomy" thread as that was what some people wanted to discuss, certainly WITHOUT economy was never mentioned & Penelope was the only person to suggest lobster & champagne jelly!!!

You mean like when I used the term "little hitler behaviour" I wasn't really calling someone Hitler?

PS I never mentioned "half" a brain, funny how you read what you expect to see isn't it;)

Actually you used the term "little hitler abuse of power" ;) And you meant to use it. I left the word hunter off the end of the term witch hunter in error. I do think there's a difference.:)

I really wish everyone would let it drop:sad:

We had got past all this last night and turned this into a nice happy thread

Why why why why why why why cant it stay that way?

    PLEASE DROP IT!

I do agree Jinks and I'm sorry :o, but two posters are consistently accusing people of bullying on this thread. I don't know who they are referring to but it's upsetting when all I and others tried to do was support Penny and when the issues from the other thread/s were raised I tried to give some balance to the argument. I have been civil and respectful and have bullied no one.
I do realise there is little point in arguing the toss here. I have looked at some previous threads by one of the posters on here and there are a few concerning the closure of threads so maybe it is just a big bugbear of theirs, whatever board it is on. I have a feeling that we'll just go round in circles arguing the rights and wrongs of it here.

I've reported the thread to abuse so I hope they take action over it today.

If you look at the posts there are numerous ones which accuse people of bullying, and no one has objected to them. It is only when the boot is firmly on the other foot, and the accused turns accuser that the tide turns. Why is that I wonder.?;)

No one seemed unduly concerned about the vitriol, or name calling but it appears that perfectly civil posts, bit posts which are not to the liking of certain people cause the threads to be referred to abuse, requested to be moved or deleted.

If this thread has now moved onto a discussion of forum behaviour and the feelings of quite a few people (as evidenced by my inbox) that OS is only the place to be if you agree with the many then maybe it should go in its entirety (not with the judicious use of selective editing as was suggested by someone) to a discussion thread.

I suspect most people have "issues" or subjects which cause them to post, who is to say they are not entitled to do so?

The thread had moved on, but was brought back to the furore by the re opening of the subject. Like you and others I have commented, that is the nature of a forum, posts are addressed and answered.

To reply oneself and then berate others for doing the same is a bit hypocritical.
