Yes, everything you say about LIFE is wrong (except for where you state that they are pro-life). Please see their website and you will see the range of support they offer women who are unexpectedly pregnant. http://www.lifecharity.org.uk/home/

They offer housing (at around 25 houses throughout the country) to vulnerable pregnant women/those with newborns, plus financial donations and practical help with items etc.

Marie Stopes (who charge for abortions/counselling) have a vested interest in getting women to end their pregnancies. Given that I have had experience with both LIFE and Marie Stopes, I am in a position to comment on them.

However, this will be my last post on the issue as I don't think it helps GemJar or Ravenlady to have us bickering.

A warning to anyone in this position, LIFE are very very strongly pro-life, they have a vested interest in persuading women to continue with their pregnancies. Their advice is NOT unbiased or impartial.

Funnily enough, they offer very little support to women who do go on to have their babies. It seems that to a lot of people 'pro life' ends at birth.

The above is absolute drivel! Yes LIFE are pro-life but they are not allowed to force their opinions on anyone - their crisis pregnancy counselling HAS to be impartial. They would be shut down otherwise for unethical practice - the counsellors would have their BACP accreditation removed otherwise. Many of the counsellors have had abortions themselves. And as for saying pro-life ends at birth . LIFE have pregnancy care centres where free baby clothes and equipment are given, clothes are given to children as old as 12, no one is turned away, they also have LIFE houses where families who had no where else to live can stay, some pregnancy care centres have mother and baby groups so that mums, especially teenage mums are not isolated after birth, they work closely with social services to support disadvantaged families and also offer pregnancy loss, post abortion and infertility counselling and well as a natural fertility programme for couples who have not found IVF successful.

LIFE are not an extreme, hateful organisation. They are not anti-choice in the true sense of the meaning. They offer support to those who without it feel they would not have a choice but to have an abortion, those in abusive relationships, those in extreme poverty, those who are homeless. Perhaps you should get your facts straight before you scaremonger. The town I live in would suffer greatly without the local LIFE care pregnancy centre, it is highly thought of and admired by the council, social services and of course the people who use the service. I'd hate for a woman reading this thread to be frightened into not getting the support the need from their local pregnancy care centre.

    Read the edit.

I'm not a fan of LIFE, but it seems they at least stick to the code of ethics to some extent.

This is what I don't get about the anti-choice crowd. Why on earth do you think pro-choice means pro-abortion and why on earth would Marie Stopes want to promote it? Abortion isn't that lucrative you know, most are performed on the NHS.

We all know you are the person who ruined my post, unlike you I am not going to hide behind a fake name any more. Yes it was me asking about abortion. But all your nasty posts will not make a difference.

You asked how my husband and children would feel, my husband is 100% behind me. My children do not need to know. But their lives will be better for me not having any more children.

I have had the children I want and do not want any more, I am done with that part of my life. We are waiting for my husband to have his vasectomy.

Try all you want with your nasty comments but you will not make me feel bad about doing what is best for me and my family.

Not hiding behind a fake name. Only joined yesterday. I dont feel i ruined the post as there was just as many people debating pro life and choice on the thread it was only because i gave a strong opinion on pro life and majority were pro choice. i will never change my opinion on this viewpoint nor do i expect u to change yours and i certainly wont be hushed up by people who may be smarter than me or who can argue the point better... abortion is one of many topics i have an opinion on and im sure we may be of similar opinions in different topics just not that one. i sincerely do wish you and your family the best for the future

I read yesterdays topic, but it was locked before I could reply.

With respect Leos Mummy, your postings on that thread were among the most disrespectful rantings I've seen for a long time on MSE. You were totally out of line, and didn't seem to have the intelligence to know when enough was enough.

I think ''we'' all understand your standpoint on this topic, however, yesterdays thread was not asking about yours, or anyone elses viewpoint on termination, only how much it would cost. Yet despite people constantly asking you to calm down, you got more and more spiteful.

It is a very emotive subject, but maybe you may like to consider peoples feelings before you start a one sided crusade.

I hope Kimberly, that you are doing ok, and I'm sorry you felt you had to disclose your identity, rather than staying anonymous. I wishyou all the best, I know it's not an easy decision to make.

Well I admire you for apologising (Was that an apology?)

I think you chose the wrong thread to air your views on the subject - Yes there were probably other people reading what you said who agreed with you but who had the sensitivity not to post their views on that particular thread

I never actually said anything nasty to anyone on the post... simply had a strong viewpoint. it was other people on the forum that turned it into a personal attack calling me several names simply because i had a different opinion. Anyway the forum is locked now and thats the end of the matter. I will continue to post on this forum without shame about my opinions on ANY subject. i have read many posts on this forum and often people defer from the original question and indeed often critisize people... its the internet, we have to allow ourselves open to critisism... we all have a right to a voice and opinion... If people dont like that then im sure they can block me

An apology if i caused offense or upset but not an apology for my viewpoint... we have to remain true to ourselves otherwise we would all be robots programmed in the same way :)

You are pro life, I get that and don't have a problem with it. You high jacked a post where I was asking about cost. I was not asking about anyone's opinions.

If you were a decent person you would have just left it alone.
Shut up woman get on my horse!!!
