car seat wise we have the britax first class, which rear faces up to 13kg, and then turns round until 18kg. DD is 1lb off 13kg at 22 months so still rear faces at the minute. I preferred it to all the other 0+ ones, as it is so high and she can see out the back window rather than the back of the car seat, so can actually see more than if she was forward facing. I have never had problems with handing her stuff/ passing her stuff as I just don't. :D She travels very well, and I don't let her eat/ drink in the car anyway, so if she drops a toy, tough til we get where we are going, she does have a fixed toy on her chair anyway so she always has this to look at. On long journeys she either goes in the front seat or someone goes in the back with her but mainly on a long journey she will just sleep.

Only thing is that she doesn't have much leg room but her legs can stretch up and out ie over back of the seat onto parcel shelf or she crosses her legs, she is perfectly comfy.

I have the dilemma at the minute of making the decision on what car seat to get her next as baby is due in June so was going to put baby in her seat and get her a new one as they are slightly cheaper. I think I am going to have to get forward facing unfortunately due to expense/ availability but would have ideally liked to rear face until 4 yrs rather than 2. Other problem is as I have an older car I can't get isofix (though correct me if I'm wrong, isofix is no safer than a CORRECTLY fitted car seat, it just takes away any risk of incorrectly fitting the seat iyswim) and it also limits slightly the type of car seat we can get.

I want to get one that goes in the middle (lap belt) as statistically this is the safest seat for a child to sit in due to side impacts, followed by driver side, so I'm thinking new baby behind me, DD in the middle iyswim. ATM I'm thinking of another britax as I am so pleased with the one we have, there is one on kiddicare for about £70ish which is what I'm considering at the minute.

    Me three. :p

Some of those car seats are worth more than my car. :A

I watched the video about the 5 point harnesses for older kids, and while i think it's a good cause etc, shouldn't the message be "get your seatbelts checked" ? If it can't do its job for a 6 year old then it's not gonna do it for anyone.

And I thought that was part of an Mot, but I'm not sure. :o

Fernlibee, Mfd linked to the car seat she has for Benjamin, it was the Which number 1 choice for car seats because it us practically impossible to fit incorrectly...

Tara, a night terror scream is easy to notice if you look, it freaks you out. They usually just stare into space, scream, don't see or respond to you, can't tell you why they are screaming and they won't remember it the next morning (older kids). They may also sweat or have a racing pulse (basically what you would expect if they had been scared suddenly).

Will look out for it tonight. Either that or she's just being a pain.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. We had a good day and Charlotte loved her pizza with cheesey bites.

Thanks for posting the pictures Susan. I was wondering where her legs went too! I bet Alice was puzzled as to why she got plonked in the car so you could take pictures of her legs :D

Left Charlotte with my parents this morning for a little while as I had a job to do. When I went to pick her up, she said she needed a wee and wanted Granny to go with her. My Mam went to take her hand on the stairs but Charlotte pulled away and said abruptly that she could manage. My Mam sarcastically said "oooh pardon me for trying to help" and Charlotte muttered "yes, Charlotte's just too independant for her own good" :rotfl::rotfl:

We saw a lady we haven't seen for a while when we were out with the dogs. She spoke to Charlotte and said she had forgotten her name and asked what it was. Charlotte told her she was called Michael Finnegan :rotfl::rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....

So, does anyone have any advice on a safe car seat for under £100? Or what to consider when choosing a car seat?
Local Car Seats Help and Advice :D My local council one is fabulous, can't recommend ours enough.
all our seats were around £100,
Ed has the maxi cosi cabrio which IIRC was about £60 (thank mfd for the deal:)) IL's bought the isofix base for that too so technically it was more.
then he'll go into Chris's old maxi cosi tobi which was the most expensive at around £120 I think.
Chris is in a Britax evolva which was £95ish and Mum has a britax first class which I got from kiddicare for £70 plus cashback :money:
I personally have only really considered MC and Britax because they test them in most cars and are the most recomended brands in general
I'll just post the fit finders in case anyone wants them :)
    Britax - Fit-Finder
    Maxi-Cosi fit list
    ...
Hobby craft is your friend :) (Don't bother with the edible glue though, it's basically thick sugar water...)...
Thanks! they were the only place I could think of but wasn't sure if they'd be in store

http://www.makeawishcakeshop.co.uk/onlineshop/results1.asp?Category=249 - yes I know it's not a real shop but I used this gold spray on my bro's wedding cake last year and it was about the same price from a local real shop - did the job perfectly. Fortunately DP's panel spraying skills were most handy!
thanks but as usual I've left it to the last minute so need to go and get it asap :o
