Hello,
Please support the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society.
http://www.rheumatoid.org.uk/index.php
A patient led national Charity focussing on Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Broadly, their aims are as follows:
* To provide information, education, support and advocacy
* To raise public and government awareness of RA
* To campaign for access to better services and more funding
* To facilitate the networking of people with RA and encourage self-help
Rheumatoid arthritis involves inflammation in the lining of the joints or other internal organs and it affects about one in 100 people.
Women with rheumatoid arthritis are as likely to die early as people diagnosed with cancer or heart disease, a study suggests.
Researchers in the United States have found that women with the condition are 60% more likely to die early than healthy women.
They said the figure showed rheumatoid arthritis was a big public health problem and urged governments to tackle the problem.

Please help fund this very worthy cause.

I would like to nominate Parkinson's Disease Society, particularly the Marlborough (Wilts) branch which is a comparatively new branch and desparately in need of funds as it is an area with a very high incidence of the illness.
This is a disease much misunderstood. It is not only a tremor but an energy sapping, neurological illness that affects every individual in a different way and so cannot have any prognosis. Lots of people suffer from depression because living with a constant involuntary movement with no control is more than a little frustrating not only for the person with it but for partners who care and have to watch the suffering. Lifestyles have to change because confidence is shattered. Just going out for a meal becomes a problem because the person suffering gets so embarrassed as it it is sometimes difficult to get food to the mouth. Everyday events like changing a fuse or using a screwdriver becomes an enormous task. Falls are common as the balance is affected. A lot of research is needed for this ilness and I would really like to think that I could help to make a difference by subscribing to the moneysavers site.:A0 -
I would like to nominate Home-Start Bury

East Lancs into Employment is a non profit making charity that helps disabled people set up their own businesses free of charge. Self employment is often a viable option for people to work around their health difficulties. It has been in existence for 14 years and trains people in all aspects of self employment and of running a business. So if they need to have business cards we train them to design and print them themselves and if they need to design and run a website or computer training we teach them to do it themselves. The businesses we help set up have a fantastically high sustainability rate, 80% still in business after 2 years and 60% after 5 years and our door is always open to the businesses to come back to us years down the line if they need further help, support or training. And it is all free of charge to the client. ELE is based in one of the most deprived areas of the country with 29% of the population on incapacity benefits due to poor housing, poor health and the closure of manufacturing industries. All this has resulted in general loss of self confidence and despair of change. The range and variety of business ideas they bring with them is astonishing from antique restoration to chiropody. We help people feel enabled rather than disabled. Our website is https://www.east-lancs-into-employment.co.uk. We need financial support to keep our service free to the clients, who are people who marginalised and forgotten yet with our help can and have achieved so much. Please support us.0

Charity name : Chernobyl Children Life Line
Website : https://www.chernobylchildlifeline.org
Objective : to improve the health of Belarusian children
Overview : In 1986, when the Chernobyl reactor exploded, 70% of the radioactive material landed on Belarus, to the north of Chernobyl. Chernobyl Children Life Line (CCLL) was established in 1991, and now brings over 4000 children a year to the UK to give them a 4-week break. Doctors estimate that this length of time in the UK has a significantly beneficial effect on their immune systems, and can add up to 2 years to their life expectancy. Organised as a group of over 140 local "links" the charity has helped over 40,000 children since its inception. We would greatly appreciate the support of MSE readers and friends in supporting our work.0 -
Web Site: http://www.childliverdisease.org/
Object: Support, Education and research for individuals and families.
Every day in the UK at least two children will be diagnosed with a liver disease.
Thousands more are living with it - day in, day out. There are over 100 different liver diseases which affect children and young people and most are life threatening.
Liver disease does not just affect babies. Around half of the diseases which are diagnosed will be in infancy but 20% will occur in childhood and about one third in adolescence.
There is only one national charity fighting all liver diseases of childhood - the Children's Liver Disease Foundation. It fights by funding pioneering research, providing education and giving professional, caring support to the families and patients.
I think this little known charity thats gives so much deserves the support of the Nation

CHARITY NAME; Children Walking Tall
WEBSITE; https://www.childrenwalkingtall.com
Aim: Helping the children of India to Walk Tall.
Why we need your support: Children Walking Tall was set up to help the children who live on the streets and in the slums of India. It started by visiting local slums and making fruit visits and providing small classes for the children to help promote education. Once it received more support it extended it's help to provide clothes runs giving out the clothes that had been kindly donated by visitors. In 2005 an old near derelict Portuguese house was secured which was turned into a center and base for the chidlren. It was named "The Mango House" and now provides a base where the children receive healthy food, a safe/dry place to rest and allows them to join in with creative and fun education and also time to do what children the world over should do, which is PLAY!
The mango house also offers nourishing food, medical care, clothes, education healthcare, and much more
CWT is aimed at giving the children of India 'A childhood worth remembering'.Many of these children have only the ragged clothes they stand up in, no shoes and live in appalling conditions crowded together under black plastic or in mud floor huts in overcrowded slums with no electric or hygiene.
The charity is currently trying to raise funds to pay the rent on the Mango House, they have a goal of £6000 and have currently raised £554
This is vital to give the charity a stable base while it grows. I hope you will consider this small but important charity as a worthy choice, we would be so grateful for any help & support.0 -
Martin, mate. I'd like to nominate the Global Fund for Aids TB and Malaria. I know it already has quite a sizeable budget, but its goals are the worthiest on the planet. Every pound that goes to this Fund pays for bednets, anti-retrovirals and innoculations for people in the poorest country. Money donated to the Global Fund saves lives NOW. Not a penny goes on admin. The only downer is that it's not UK-registered. Hope that's not an impediment. If it is, then I'd suggest either Medecins Sans Frontieres or Save the Children.
Keep up the good work - if only all companies were as noble as yours. Regards. DC0 -
