Credit Reference Agencies - Who Really Uses Who? II

  • This is a great thread! My question is, does anyone know any other mortgage providers who use Equifax or Callcredit? I have found an issue with my electoral registration not showing properly on my credit report. I've contacted Equifax, and they sorted it out, but despite having a letter from my council, Experian have said the council need to change the address in their database (which is wrong, so not appearing on my credit file). They can't seem to link then manually for some reason. I have contacted the council, and they are getting back to me today, but I suspect this will take ages to fix (despite being a tiny mistake).

In the meantime, I have found a house we really want, and applied for an AIP with Cheltanham and Gloucester but didn't get approved :( The agent is pushy and wants me to go and apply for mortgages with their mortgage adviser (I haven't told them about the refusal) but I want some time to sort out the report first, otherwise I think I risk getting refused again. They won't take it off the market until they have the agreement in principal, so I feel very stressed about not being able to get the loan. My credit record is reasonably good (I have one or two late credit card payments due to a mistake, but a perfect mortgage history and no defaults or CCJs).

Does anyone know any banks it is worth trying for the agreement in principle? I think I will shop around after this is sorted out anyway, for the final loan offer, but in the meantime, it would be anyone who DOESN'T use Experian, and has a 90% LTV product available... I see Skipton BS, and Cambridge BS are two - are there any more out there? I just need to pass the credit score to secure the house, and save myself a lot of stress!

I'm having almost the same problem; my electoral roll registration doesn't show up in Experian, despite the fact that it shows up in Equifax and Callcredit. And my main current account and some cards have just disappeared from my Experian account, despite them being there a year ago (I moved house between then and now).

The only thing I can do is submit the request to Experian and wait... and wait... and wait...

    Hi all

A quick post to point out that just because an entry may not be completed with which CRA is searched or reported to this does not mean that the company in question does not search or report to any CRA, it simply means that I have yet to receive the relevant information.

    For example:

    ABC Bank
    Search: EX, EQ
    Report:

The lack of a 'report' entry does not mean the account does not report, just that no one has posted which CRA they report to.

Just though I'd clarify this after reading a thread regarding Coventry.

    Regards

Yes i can see the mortgage section and what CRA each lender uses, however having done alot of investigation there seems to be alot of uncertainty. For example I thought Britannia might only search on experian but having done some checking out I belive they also use callcredit!
Does anyone know for absolute certainty on any that would only use experian?
  • ok i'm pretty sure this is going to help and even though I am now sorted with my mortgage I understand what people go though who are declined and really need to be certain on their next application.

As per my last post i have an alright experian file but a god awful equifax and callcredit report, I got turned down with nationwide (who deffo use equifax as they leaked out why I had been declined and it was connected with things only on my equifax file) Also got turned down by santandar a few months ago

I dabbled with the idea of using Brittania who i know don't use equifax but they confirmed with me today they deffo use callcredit as well as experian.

Having discussed this situation with my mortgage advisor we did some checking out and turned out that Halifax only do a experian search.

To validate this he even spoke to one of the senior halifax underwriters who confirmed this!

Sure enough put the application through and have been approved straight away for £300k worth of borrowing!

I hope this helps everyone, good luck with this helpful thread!
