Were you successful mate and what card did you get (i.e. CGC or basic card) :D

I was successful however they would only give me a cash card & cheque book. I spoke there underwriting dept as you can imagine I wasnt a happy bunny. They said i didnt get a visa debit as i wasnt on the voters. Which is true ive not long moved address and I dont appear on the voters roll yet according to the CRAs.

I got my letter from the council today infact confirming I was now on the voters roll. Ive faxed it off too northern rock who have now agreed to send me a visa debit with no CG as they said they are no longer sending them out too new customers and exsisting customers will stop getting them from august 2010. :D

Applied for a Barclays Bank Account yesterday (I'm on a mission to get away from A&L as they morph into Santander) and in the application they accessed my credit file and asked me a few questions based on the information in my file from Equifax.

Checked my report today and noticed that they had performed a Table 2 "authentication" search only.

They said I would get a decision in 4 working days. Am I to expect a full search in the next couple of days, or are they going to work from the Table 2 search as they seem to have the full info already?

This is for their "proper grownup" bank account.

They will write and tell you to go into a branch with ID - barclays never auto accept bank account app's online cos they are dealt with by the branch so all online app's get electronically sent to your specified branch for completion... always best to just go into a branch to apply and they say yes or no there and then! :D

Ok that's interesting to know. I'm lazy and like doing things online from my own armchair lol.

I didn't have to specify a branch in my application, so I guess they will assign me my nearest branch.

The form said the whole point of asking me credit file specific questions (who my credit card is with, what my balance on my last statement was and who my mobile phone contract is with) was to eliminate the need of proving who I was with ID.

I'll update with what happens when it happens to benefit others.

Barclays search Equifax initially to confirm your identity (i.e. hence all the questions regarding your credit file) but then search Experian when going through your application.
