To-day I bought some french marigolds 2 boxes of 12 for 50p each, 1 box of African marigold at 50p for 6 previously sold at £5 a box and 1 box of 12 ageratum at £1 at B & Q. I am hoping to nurse them to live as a few are damaged by frost. I am only going to lose a few plants but I thought it was a good buy. I usually look for damaged bargains plants for my garden. Now the problem is to find somewhere to put them on the windowsill.0

We picked up some pallets from a timber merchant and now our peas are sitting in a nice cage on allotment.0

I got some large plastic pots (fake terracota sort) out of a skip, perfect for my tomatoes in the greenhouse. I was very pleased as I had been wondering what I was going to use without spending too much money.
And a friend dropped in some saved seed - which apparently are Victorian climbing peas, which have been passed down. Can't wait to try them.0 -

I found a really pretty brightly coloured tin that someone had left out for the binmen. It will be perfect for some cut and come again lettuce!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I've kitted out almost my entire back garden from freecycle! Lots of enthusiastic people helped to give me seeds and pots so I am planting flower beds and some seeds. I used an old door and broke it up (well my boyfriend did this bit) to separate out vegetable space.
Got some gardening gloves, little fork, spade and a redcurrent bush from the 99p store in Peckham and I picked up some fig cuttings from freecycle and they are looking promising (waiting for roots). Also there is a Pound Stretcher by Kentish town tube which I have been getting 49p packets of 10L multipurpose compost, and very cheap pots (£1.99 window box).
Oh also we decided to use a bathroom corner shelving thing that was in our back garden from the old tenants to put in the corner of our garden for hanging baskets, it looks amazing! Shelving like this one: http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00qeEaiVgSJloz/Corner-Holder-CPS-601C-1-.jpg
We also have a picnic bench that we asked a pub for (as they were replacing their furniture).
I am planting probably more than I need though, so if I have success I am putting some of the seedlings back on freecycle.Achieved last year: New isa savings! - £2000
Credit rating improved by Capital One Classic Credit card, finally been accepted on a phone contract! :j
Debts: Credit card: [STRIKE]£1600[/STRIKE] - £145 (not paying interest). Debenhams store card: £512 - £313. Owe to boyfriend - ????0 -
From B and Q, 12cm all in one joined together pot trays, 4 of them, 8 on each one. Saw them lurking by the till and she said I could take them, was there like shot!!!Ahhhh.... lemony fresh victory is mineee!!!0

Cleared garden today and dug out some borders.. full of stones, so I dumped in buckets of water and washed mud off, now I have a heap of what look like river washed stones to use somewhere else.
Neighbor popped out whilst doing garden and offered me some good board and bricks, so made myself a small raised bed
Now just have to plan a way to keep dogs off plants!!0 -
I don't think this exactly counts as frugal, but last year I bought some artichokes that, with one thing and another, didn't get planted in a timely fashion. In fact, I can't remember what happened to them in the end-whether they got planted or composted. They were certainly beyond "in a bad way".
Whichever it was, I was hoeing the border earlier and, at the back, I found what looks suspiciously like four tiny artichoke plants....
Otherwise, I've decided to try "recycling" the bulb pots by dumping some annual seed mix and compost on the top. The theory being that as the bulb leaves die back, the flowers will grow...something for the bees...and me!!import this0 -
iv made a compost "bin" out of a old wooden chest of drawes minus any drawers lol.. that i found in my shed when i moved in. turned it on its back and put it in corner on concrete, its not too high but some boards will do the trick. and to think i was going to spnd £20 + on one lol.ect ect ect ect ect ect ooohhh the blood is boiling! :rotfl:
2 little people who I love dearly and a excersise mad husband:T0
