I ordered three of these PCs - all in separate orders - one for my son, and two for mates at work. I got the email and phone call from Paul Diamond at Dell, and agreed to upgrade all 3 machines to 80GB hard disks.
Got confirmation email for delivery by 22nd - then courier called to arrange delivery for tomorrow! Fantastic.:D
BUT - I just got an email confirmation of an order for one machine with a different order number and the original 40GB hard disk!! So it looks like not only have they pulled the mis-priced orders for special treatment, but they're separately processing them anyway!
Anyone else got a second order letter when they only ordered one machine? Now I'm wondering if I'll get another two order letters for the other two PCs??
If I do I won't reject them - lots of people at work will want these little beauties.

UPDATE: Just noticed that the new order has the same customer number as an order I placed with Dell before Xmas, but not the same as the order for my 3 machines! So presumably their customer ordering has got me down as two separate customers now, and I'm going to get two lots of kit!

I phoned them today (For the fourth time now) and was told that somebody would call me back as they'd put a priority on my order.Well, nobody called BUT I did receive an email with order acknowledgement etc with delivery planned for the 25th Feb.Was hoping they'd call so I could have upgraded the hard disk but I guess it's not the end of the world as I have a spare 80gb one here at home that I can use.... :)
Strange how come I was promised on every occasion calling Dell that somebody would call me but they never did, instead processing my order without contacting me like they'd done to others!! :(

I too ordered multiples and have had a phone call to confirm my order, had confirmation email and the order has left the factory and will be with me tomorrow.
I also got another set of pdf's yesterday with a different order number using my same customer number and reserved more funds from my CC so they look like they are repeating my order too. :)
All Dell'd up ;) several times over :)

I had a phone call from Dell yesterday to say my PC will be delivered tomorrow. Interestingly, my brother-in-law had his delivered last Monday, although he ordered his 3 days after me. So they're obviously not processing goods in the order in which they were ordered.

But I am well pleased. Thanks a lot Psybear for the original spot. It's a cracker!
  • Ive just rang the number in the email Paul Diamond sent, and the guy is away from his desk!
Ive left 5 messages but ive never had a reply back :(

I was on that e-mail too, and tbh, for an IT company it's incredibly norty of them, if not bordering on breaking the data protection act to have sent out that e-mail. He sent it and displayed everyones e-mail address on it.

I called him yesterday and he didn't seem that interested at all. I had previously sent 2 e-mails to him. He just said 'there's been a delay because marketing are offering you more deals, do you want'. When I asked more specifics, such as models, etc he said 'I dont know' So I asked for the order to be processed as normal. he said it would take 7-10 working days to arrive. Didn't receive a PDF or any order confirm though.
  • Only first email received so far.
I have tried to phone (what a joke and waste of money being transferred for 20 minutes) to finally get to the correct dept. idiots.
yesterday 15 minute to be told it closed 3 minutes earlier. (VERY ANNOYED ABOUT THAT)

and having one person say the order is cancelled.

found correct dept 01344 373812 direct line.

was told that all customers would get email in next 2 days.

I would never buy a DELL if I didn't have to.

was going to get laptop forget it, customer care ****

I hope it works as I don't want to have to phone them again.

what did they mean by we'll all get an email in the next 2 days? could they be no longer honouring?
  • They are still processing the orders.
I must have been on the bottom of there list as I was told that they are going up there spreadsheet so all customers should be contacted in the next few days!
They have accepted that these orders will be processed so there shouldn't be a problem apart from just taking there time.

I've phoned and e-mailed but I'm still no further on than I was at the beginning of last week when they sent the "we'll contact you e-mail" to everybody.

I keep looking to see if my order has made it onto the order tracking system but it hasn't. Has anybody with a confirmed order checked Dell's system to see what it says?
