    If you are offered a HD upgrade to 80Gb for £15 as iduncan was I would think it was worth thinking about. Is there room for another hard drive if you buy one? Can you be bothered to take the 40Gb HD out, reformat your new hard drive and install all the software again? At £15 for 40Gb extra and no hassle (unless you were going to reformat the HD anyway) I would think it is a good deal. I am buying the PC for a friend and paid an extra £30 for 80Gb on my original order as I don't want to spend hours messing with setup of different HD.

    Still nothing here other than the first email on Monday morning. Do you think they might be contacting customers with the second email/phone call in alphabetical order ?

    My surname starts with P. Anyone after that, alphabetically, who has had the second follow-up ?

    Also, are they offering to double the RAM to 512 MB ?

    If not, how much should I agree to pay for this if, as an earlier poster mentioned, they are offering any upgrade for half price ?

    Hi

    Same here, just the first email, my surname begins with H, did email them again this morning as I begrudge ringing 0870 numbers, especially when you are dealing with Dell! Fingers crossed :confused:

  • I 'politely' ;) chased them up yesterday. The guy Paul said how he'd got over a thousand orders to process ! Really didn't feel like hassling him further ! Seems they have our oders, they will be honoured but it's going to take a while to get through the backlog. Think we all need to be a alittle patient :)

    My surname begins with B and I've not heard from them since Monday's e-mail.

    Beats me why they need to contact everybody. They have the orders, why don't they just fulfil them?

    I reckon they're contacting people because some of the upgrades they are offering can be used to clear out unwanted stock, and to reclaim a little bit of the profit they might be losing on the original deal.
    i.e. get you to pay £80+ for a 15" TFT which they probably only paid about £60 for.
    You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.
  • How much extra would it cost to upgrade the CPU to a P4(therefor adding a Motherboard with a AGP slot), adding an extra 256mb ram, and increasing the hard drive to 80GB?
    These upgrades will make the machine future proof.

    Floppy = £5 or less

    You cant just stick in your own floppy, there is no mounting cage fitted as standard. If someone wants a floppy they should get the Dell one that comes with the mounting cage.
  • im sorted as far as i believe a guy from dell left a voice mail on my answering machine last nite saying they were honouring the deal, and telling me to contact them if i had any problems etc.... then he emailed the spec. and delivery is on the 18th february according to it. looking at the spec sheet it looks like theyve thrown in an upgrade to 1 year NBD on site warranty as well as the collect and return option!!
