Well I havent done badly today ( so far)

I thought Id take dog for v long walk and up the steps - so chuffed that 28000 steps today. Definately feels really good.

However, all this exertion meant starving hungry. I took my 2 alpen lites out with me ( HEB) and Id had fruit & yog this morning and tea before I left. Managed till about 12 on these but,I was so weak! ( had been walking 3 hours) so managed to find a caff whereupon I had 2 pooached eggs 4 bacon and beans and a diet coke. EASY!

then got home and had mango strawbs and yog.

Ive had some cottage cheese and a pack of those sains soya snacks ( 5 syns) - lime and coriander- wont buy that flavour again lol but I finished them!

Tonights dinner is beef bourginonne from the magazine with roasted snips/carrots/ new pots obv using frylite. ;)

I was considering doing the mini cheesecakes with passion fruit subbing the P fruit for mango or strawbs- they are 5 syns each tho.

can anyone tell me what a Trifle sponge is in syns?
Can anyone confirm what tinned mandarins in "light syrup" is ( bought in error  )
is the choc orange muller 1.5

    thanks in advance

I have a thought about making some sorts of crisp like snacks out of pasta shapes, watch this space :D

You would have to syn them as it would be misuse of free food. There are recipes - or rather there used to be loads out there but I think they will have been removed by now since the powers that be at SW saw what we do when they're not looking :rotfl:

Ah in that case I wont bother lol, if they were free then fine- not worth the effort if they are not syn free!

You think thats random, you should see what they get up to with the Cambridge diet trying to make them into solids

I like to make my own hummus with tinned chickpeas, but is it true that if you mash up the chick peas then they are syns? - I make my hummus with mashed chick peas, lemon juice, salt and pepper, onion and about a tsp of tahini (which I have just looked up and is 2syns) - It is nice with a wholemeal pitta (heb) and carrot sticks.

No you don't have to syn the chickpeas if you're using them in the right way (as you would be with Hummus. It's only if you want to use chickpeas as an alternative to flour (as you would if making a cake) that they are synned. Here is a very simple recipe for hummus if you want one:-

    Three tins of chickpeas
Juice and rind of two lemons
    Salt
1 or 2 cloves of garlic
Half tub of syn free fromage frais

    Simply blend all ingredients together.
Keeps well in the fridge for 3/4 days.

    Hi Aliscrapper -

When I did pasta salad the other day I made a dressing using:-
    • 100g fat free fromage frais
    • 50g extra low philli type cheese -garlic and herb
    • 2tbs low fat yoghurt dressing
    • seasoning
You could use the same dressing for potato salad.
It came to 3 Syns for the whole lot (you will have to double check depending what brands you use) and it did 3 good sized portions -I used 250g pasta for 3 (but it was still a bit to much to be honest :o)
You could add tomato puree/ketchup -if you are having prawns (bit like cocktail sauce), wholegrain mustard, use a different flavour philli cheese (but you will have to alter the syns)

I throw in diced carrots, onion, peppers, celery, frozen peas/corn (just defrosted under a hot tap and cooled ;)) and ham -but you can throw in tuna (very nice) leftover chicken anything really
Potato salad is lovely if its still slightly warm too -or chilled with crispy cooked bacon in mmmmmmm

The egg fried rice "recipe" I posted the other day is lovely cold as a salad too -it doesn't need any dressing either ;)

As you are at home -could you put out an extra portion of tea the night before so you can have it warmed up sometimes? I do that if its something I particularly like -or if I have cooked to much ;)

Can you tell Im a foody :rotfl:
If Im not eating it, Im thinking about it, reading about it, buying it or cooking it :D

Was looking at getting the ingredients for you yummy potato salad/pasta salad dressing. What is "philli type cheese -garlic and herb"?? Much appreciated
