    Hi Aliscrapper -

When I did pasta salad the other day I made a dressing using:-
    • 100g fat free fromage frais
    • 50g extra low philli type cheese -garlic and herb
    • 2tbs low fat yoghurt dressing
    • seasoning
You could use the same dressing for potato salad.
It came to 3 Syns for the whole lot (you will have to double check depending what brands you use) and it did 3 good sized portions -I used 250g pasta for 3 (but it was still a bit to much to be honest :o)
You could add tomato puree/ketchup -if you are having prawns (bit like cocktail sauce), wholegrain mustard, use a different flavour philli cheese (but you will have to alter the syns)

I throw in diced carrots, onion, peppers, celery, frozen peas/corn (just defrosted under a hot tap and cooled ;)) and ham -but you can throw in tuna (very nice) leftover chicken anything really
Potato salad is lovely if its still slightly warm too -or chilled with crispy cooked bacon in mmmmmmm

The egg fried rice "recipe" I posted the other day is lovely cold as a salad too -it doesn't need any dressing either ;)

As you are at home -could you put out an extra portion of tea the night before so you can have it warmed up sometimes? I do that if its something I particularly like -or if I have cooked to much ;)

Can you tell Im a foody :rotfl:
If Im not eating it, Im thinking about it, reading about it, buying it or cooking it :D

Oh wow! That potato salad/pasta salad sounds so yummy! Thank you!

I often freeze down a portion of my dinner; as I end up making too much!:rotfl: Never thought of having it for my lunch the following day rather than freezing it! Thank you!

I'm a foody too! As soon as I wake up I think - all my "a" and "b" choices, syns and free food - what can I eat now!!!:rotfl:

I have to avoid bread/pasta cos of my IBS. Plus I'm mainly veggie (with the odd bit of fish!).

    Lunches.

    Big salads with egg/HeA cheese/cottage cheese/quorn ham
Baked potatoes with HeAcheese & beans/cottage cheese
HeB 4 ryvita with HeA laughing cow extra light & salad/cottage cheese

Today I'm having SW chips, quorn burger & mushy peas.

Hmm, I eat a lot of cottage cheese. It's the VLF stuff from either Tesco or Sainsburies (depending on where I've shopped!)

I don't always avoid the temptations at the supermarket. So I am proud that I did so today! :D

I like to make my own hummus with tinned chickpeas, but is it true that if you mash up the chick peas then they are syns? - I make my hummus with mashed chick peas, lemon juice, salt and pepper, onion and about a tsp of tahini (which I have just looked up and is 2syns) - It is nice with a wholemeal pitta (heb) and carrot sticks.

I make mine with some garlic, plain yoghurt and sesame oil (same syns as tahini and keeps longer if you don't use it up!) and the rest same as yours and I've always assumed it's free except for the oil even tho the chickpeas are bashed about. But I could be wrong :o

Thank you. Have you got a receipe for the lentil dhal??

No Ali, not really, I've been making dhal for years so it's kind of instinctive. If you google "dhal" you will bring up gazillions of recipes and find one that uses stuff you already have (split orange lentils being the main cheap ingredient) and I personally feel an authentic dhal needs fenugreek seeds and dried fenugreek leaves to give it that Indian restaurant taste. Sorry, not very helpful I know ..... basically just onion, garlic, spices, lentils, stock, boil til cooked.

*rushed back to add* obviously use frylight instead of ghee or butter or oil!!!

That's interesting about the IBS; as I suffer with it too:( but had never given it a thought that it might be aggravated by bread and pasta! Thank you!
