Had my 1st weigh in on Thursday and lost 6lbs:j can not believe it, i have eaten loads, it isnt like a "you know what at all " i will not use the D word.
I was out in town today with dds 1 and 3 and while they scoffed pizza and chips i had a lovely baked potato with beans and no butter, felt very heavenly lol
Oh wow!:T That's amazing - well done you! And well done for resisting the pizza and chips; I'm not sure I would have been able to be that strong so good on you!:T0 -
I went out after work yesterday and probably had a whole weeks syns in liquid form, and on an empty stomach as well. God I feel so ill! All I have managed to eat today is 1 slice of toast and 2 tablespoons baked beans for lunch and some SW bolognaise sause with pasta shells.
Its my WI tomorrow, so I hope I haven't blown the whole weeks good work. Fingers crossed. I'm off for a warm bath and an early night.LBM July 2009DMP Start 1 September 2009DMP Support Number 3350 -

Would no doubt have been nicer with lamb -but lamb is like rocking horse droppings here ....hard to find :rotfl:...
Well done rupe :T... I don't like many sweets but the sour fizzy ones
Thanks for the offer Mrs M, I do have the SW curry book and I do believe I made that recipe once and thoroughly enjoyed it  I will do it again and give away the second Co-op one (I have a friend who will eat anything)

What would I need to get started? If I get a starter pack will this give me all the info I need on what to do? How do I find out how many syns are in things etc? Sorry about all the questions, a bit clueless!
Thanks! xx
Hi Toothfairy4,
I have done SW before, but have bought a new pack (ebay!) to get the new plan. The pack comes with a book which gives syns for many basic items, plus you can buy books that cover what is sold at each supermarket.
You can also get the info online, however you need a password which members are given at the meetings. We cannot give out the password on here, but if you Google a bit you should be able to find it.Gone ... or have I?0 -

Yes the starter pack you get from class will contain all the information you need to get you going. You can buy it on ebay, but usually for an extortionate amount, so even if you don't plan to commit to classes long-term its much cheaper to go along to at least one and get the introductory talk and starter pack.
Re. syn values I usually use the online syns calculator but you need to attend classes to get a weekly password to access this. For me this is one of the main reasons I got to class tbh as it is so useful. But you can survive without it, your pack contains a good few pages of syn values, and if you are ever stuck feel free to ask on here and someone will come along to check online and help you out. The minimins site here has a syn values section which you could read through and get some ideas from, and that site also has a good summary of the SW plan here which may help you get your head around what SW entails.
Just a thought, and I've no idea about prices etc, but have you thought about joining SW online? It may work for you if you can't manage to get to classes, and you'd get all the information you need and access to the online resources that way. HTH:):starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

I joined SW a week and a half ago and in my first week lost 1/2 (it was my 'star week' but didn't feel the need to share that with a roomful of strangers. Though I have told all of you!)
I think it is great how much of the stuff I love that I can eat, pasta, mmm!
My only problem is that I have a really sweet tooth and fruit doesn't always cut it. I like the options hot chocolates, particularly the orange ones, and that is only 2 syns but does anyone have any other ideas? I found a recipe for a chickpea cake that sounds worth a try but would like other snack ideas that aren't too high in syns.
Thanks all!
Sian, a girl at our group suggested freezing bananas for when something sweet is needed (though one or two with DISGUSTIN' minds sniggered at the idea of licking a frozen banana  ) and someone else said break a bar of chocolate into individual squares and freeze them. Just melt one in your mouth when necessary at (I think) 3 syns.:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j

Hi hope its ok to post here. I'm trying to lose weight but am not being really strict with myself however i'm on the right tracks and have lost 1 stone in 6 months - i need to lose 10lbs before end of June - if i manage it i can go gliding (i won a raffle prize last year) also i won a holiday to the world cup in south africa so wanna feel tip top for that.
My question is - on SW can anyone tell me the points for the Pasta in sauces that you get in the packets that you add milk to and cook in the microwave - i think bachelors is one of the makers? Thank you very much.A home is not a home ..... without a dog0 -
Thank you dmg24 and c l a i r e, I am going to get a starter pack off ebay, there is one finishing soon currently at £12...
I am going to give it a go, its worth a try, but keeping the motivation is usually my problem. I'm feeling really rubbish about myself at the minute thoughand would really like to be a few stone lighter, not just for the wedding but for me, it really gets me down. I just hope it will work for me if i stick to it.
