    Hi Everyone

Well i did it! Joined up to SW yesterday - got my books and had a chat with the consulatant at the meeting. Unfortunately couldnt stay for the whole meeting as i managed to find a meeting in between appointments so had to dash but i spent all last night reading my books for a start today!

So, today so far ive had...

Omlette with cheese (HEa?) and tomatoes with baked beans

    Does that sound right?

No idea whats for dinner yet as im going to my friends for dinner tonight so i'll have to play it by ear i think.

I havent told any of my friends or family that im doing SW - in the past ive always said, and ive always given up so this time i think im going to keep it a secret and see how i do!! :)

Lisalou1982 - did you weigh your cheese? When i first started i hated weighing out my hea's & b's (i still don't measure my milk :o)
What day are you on? EE? Green?

    Today is a green day
Brekkie - Coffee with milk (hea) (really need to get out of this habit!)
Lunch - Pasta with hm tomato sauce (tomatoes, mushrooms, corguette, aubergine, spring onion, onion, peppers) & soup i mentioned yesterday
Snacks - Grapes, banana, french fries (4.5?) 2 x alpen light (heb)
Dinner - Cheese omelette (hea2) Beans, butternut squash, potatoes followed by muller light & chocolate of some kind
Will either have scan bran with ff cottage cheese & quorn slices or hifi bar for my other heb

    Hi Guys
Ive just joined SW online so just getting to grips - Ive had 11 syns today but struggling to incorporate as many superfree foods as I should! Also, question - when it says level tbsp how level is level - I know it's not going to be heaped but the spoon isnt that deep - 2 syns for a level tbsp of clover light and 2 for a level tbsp of lighter heinz salad cream seems quite a big for a tiny amount unless Im measuring in a mean way (which would be better than over laoding!).
Is it really really bad to reserve 5 syns a day for the weekend?
Thanks - look forward to joining in more as I learn more!
    Emma

I'm sorry but I laughed when I read the 'how level is level' bit - you sound just like my DD :D

For a level spoonful, scoop the ingredient and then pass the back of a knife over it to level it to the depth of the spoon. It's not a lot which is why it's a good idea to find a much lower fat/calorie alternative. Many foodstuffs now have a 'light' or even 'extra light' version, which generally speaking will give you twice as much for the syns.

I have always found that a 'wet' filling (eg: tuna mayo) in a sandwich means that you don't need a spread on the bread at all. I honestly don't know about salad cream because it's something I never even think of using. I use the extra light Helman's mayo if I want a salad dressing, which gives me 2 level tablespoons for 1½ syns. However, there are quite a few syn-free salad dressings if you look in the supermarket - they will be labeled 'fat-free'.

It's not wrong to reserve 5 syns a day towards your weekend, but it's not good to hang on to all your syns for a massive binge. Try counting your syns weekly (allowing say 70 - 100) and count down towards the weekend. This works well for some people, hopefully you'll find it a good way :)

If you find incorporating a lot of superfree foods into your meals hard, don't forget you can always have a big bowl of fresh fruit to follow instead. You can also count superfree items in the recipe (eg onion and tomatoes in a chilli).

    Hope this helps :)

I know - how level is level - what a stupid question for me to ask! At least I know Im not going overboard!
Thanks for the tips on superfree foods - Ill remember the tomatoes/onions/carrots in a chilli etc are superfree!
I have actually bought the extra light mayo but heinz on do a lighter salad cream, but thats a start isnt it - and clover lighter - worth a couple of syns!
ill see how I do over the next week !
Im confident the first weeks loss will be good as no alchohol and no takeaways - which have been a staple - and have meant going from 8st to 10st in 2 years!!

I hope I didn't offend you - there are no stupid questions, every single one is valid. You'll always be wondering if you don't ask :)

Sounds like you've made an excellent start - roll on weigh-in! I bet you met a fella who lives on pizza etc - that's just what happened to my youngest DD but she's managed to lose 5½ stone since he left :D

Hi all WI tonight. I have been good (was last week and was only rewarded with 1/2 lb) but have been running 4 times this week. Have just come back from a school friend's funeral she was also prt of our SW group too. It was really hard and was really rude to our consultant because she tried to talk to me but i couldn't i just put my hand up and walked away was a complete mess so hope she won't hold it against me ...amanda and i had been friends for 23 years and it has devestated me. I will have a little drink to her tonight tho x

I'm thinking of missing WI tonight as need to visit Dad in hospital (day 2 of chemo today). I've left a message to say I can't go, but does anyone know if I will still have to pay please?
Some people see the glass half full, others see the glass half empty - the enlightened are simply grateful to have a glass :)
  • Wendy - so sorry to hear about your friend - I'm sure your consultant won't feel offended.

Karen - hope your Dad is okay today. I think that if you ring and tell them you're not going then you don't have to pay but I might be wrong....

Today was weigh in day for me after my first week. I am pleased to report an 11 lb loss which has astounded me given that I have eaten VERY well and it is also my star week. I have a huge amount to lose but still feel very encouraged! In the past I have always allowed myself a few treats on weigh day but today I decided that there was enough nice free food in for me not to want to! I didn't have breakfast (because of weigh in:o) and for lunch I had stir fry veg with noodles mixed with a bit of soy sauce and tomato ketchup (2 syns) and rice vinegar mixed with a bit of splenda - it gives a sort of sweet and soury flavour IYKWIM. I haven't decided what to have for tea - I have lean mince, chicken thigh fillets and baked beans in and I can't decide which one to have - Imight do the mince with loads of veg and stir the beans through and have it on a jacket potato. Snacks so far have been a mulleright toffee yoghurt.

    Hope everyone is okay!

karen23 - you should be able to have the day off as holiday day (as long as you have any left)
In my opinion it is better for you to see your dad even if you did have to pay rather than WI - you could easily WI at home? Not sure if your group will let you do that - thought mine did - although i have never done it before!
