Has anyone tried making Marion's breakfast rice in the microwave? I have my brekkie at work so it would be good if I could cook it there. I do a big pan and take some cold but I do like a warm breakfast. Been at OH's parents for tea today so had to save most of my syns for that but wasn't too bad this week! I still feel like I'm eating too much but I've had no bread or crisps and only a tiny bit of choccie since I started and I can see and feel the difference. wi is tomorrow so hopefully it will be good news!!! I'm having an EE day today:
Breakfast - porridge (HEA&B) and banana
Snack - plum
Lunch - small jacket potato, large mixed salad, ham, egg, salad cream (2)
LF natural yogurt with lemon curd (1)
Snack - small portion of brekkie rice with mixed berries and pear and LF natural yogurt.
Tea - 2 fairly low fat sausages(6), new potatoes, carrots, cabbage, gravy (2)
Pudding - Pear, banana, grapes.
Yes you can do the rice in the microwave - I have a microwave rice cooker that I have used for this but I imagine any suitable dish would do, just remember that the rice water will foam up a bit whilst it is cooking so you need to have a large enough dish and make sure it is covered. I think the normal measurements of of 2 parts water to 1 part rice is the same - havn't done it in the micro lately.
Marion:)When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!0 -
Thought it was about time I posted my breakfast rice recipe up again!
Cook 1/2 cup of pudding rice in 1 cup of water for about 20 minutes (I use my remoska). Remove from heat put into a bowl, add fruit and a complementing muller yogurt and mix together! ie rice with sliced banana and toffee yogurt, rice with frozen blueberrys and a blueberry yogurt, rice with mandarin segments (chopped) and mandarin yogurt. For best results eat straight away while it is nice and warm! Tastes really nice and is very very filling! Also free on SW green and EE so can be made any time you fancy it really! You don't have to use muller yogurt by the way - any syn free fruit yogurt will do!

Lisa, I tried making it in the microwave. I'm not a microwave newbie, I've been cooking in solely the microwave for nearly 20 yrs, but I found the pudding rice always boiled over. Actually, I also soon realised that I don't like sweet rice, only savoury (and my savoury rice never boils over). The best way would be to measure rice (?half a cup) and water (1.5 times the rice) into a Very Big Bowl, bring to boil, cover and leave it for about 10 mins until it cooks without heat iyswim. At least that way it wouldn't boil over, god willing. (blimey all that and I see Marion beat me to it
)

:jYay, 3lb off at weigh and slimmer of the week! Really pleased as it has been a slow start this time around. It's also my * week so not at all expected. I am now treating myself to a G & T, and the pork and pepper traybake out of this editions SW mag.
I won't be able to exercise much over the next 5 days due to work, so will have to be super disciplined food wise.
Well done everyone!Slimming world Restart 29/08/11 weight unknown?? 46 days until I go home :j0 -

Morning all
I've started doing the occasional red day but keep forgetting that I am allowed extra HEs- will make a concerted effort today, as it is wi day so don't have a chance to eat a "normal" evening meal so will be relying more on my HEs.
Started training for the Race for Life 10k last night - lovely weather so it wasn't a chore - we intended to do @ 4k as it was our first trip out for several months but ended up doing @ 7-8k so feeling happy with that.
I'm sure posting charitable links isn't allowed but if anyone feels that they would like to sponsor me for the Race for Life, please just pm me and I'll send you the direct link to my sponsorship page.
(apologies, I know how cheeky this is, I'm just very keen to raise money for this again)
I'll keep you all posted as to my training, red/EE days and whether I can still walk tomorrow - well done to all the losers this week and I hope to be joining you (although it is star week so I think I am being optimistic)
MxI was going to take over the world but got distracted by something sparkly.......0 -
Morning all and congratulations to all those with loses to report :T
Well -the mexican chilli chicken went down well last night :j-I made vegetable egg fried rice to go with it mmmmmmmm . The only thing I will change next time I do the chicken I will add a squidge of tomato puree to get the depth of flavour to the sauce. Hubby has said that is a dish he will definitely be wanting again -he loves anything hot n spicy..Im not one for much chilli -but it was nice for a change
Todays EE meal plan looks like this :-- 250ml semi milk (B)
- 2 weetabix (A)
- wafer thin chicken breast
- big salad
- 1bsp yogurt dressing (0.5)
- jacket potato
- low fat cottage cheese
- huge salad
- 1tbs yogurt dressing (0.5)

Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

That sounds yummy, do you have a recipe for it (the chilli and the rice)? We love chilli but I tend to do a bog standard one with beef mince and plain boiled rice.0
