I would say quark is better than yoghurt for cooking, but it might just be that I haven't tried cooking with yoghurt enough. I think quark is a wonder food, and very cheesy - when there is other cheese in the recipe.
Hummous - i thought you could make syn free hummous but that the shop bought one is synned.
Shop bought houmous is synned (presumably b/c of the oil etc), but can be a HEB choice on a green day. You can make your own syn free houmous though, i've just bookmarked this recipe here to try.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

I haven't made mousaka but when doing lasagne for a white/cheese sauce I used cottage cheese, which I just add an egg and some pepper to and then blend up. I would then just sprinkle a HE portion of cheese on top. I know it sounds odd but it tastes lovely.:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -

It does sound odd and I keep seeing recipes with cottage cheese in and a part of me recoils, thinking, but I hate cottage cheese... I will have to try it!0 -
I think following the plan would be hard without fruit and vegetables. When you say you can't eat much are you limited on quantity or do you only like/ are able to eat a few different types? If it's a question of not liking them, how about a hidden vegetable bolognese, basically hide grated vegetable in the bolognese sauce, or treating yourself to fruit and vegetables that you do like - fennel, cherries, asparagus, swede, corn on the cob? If you can't eat them for an IBS or similiar reason, does that apply to all vegetables?0

Quark is fantastic. I am a convert and so is my boyfriend who doesn't want to eat any of that diet food but tells all my friends about how fantastic quark is and looks surprised when they haven't heard of it. In texture I would say it is maybe a slightly drier philadephia, nothing at all to be scared of.
Although I can talk as I feel the same way about cottage cheese... and think I only ate it once!
If you eat quark for dinner, maybe you can treat yourself to a fresh pineapple for desert?0 -
Oh, but put the quark in something, a recipe or an omelette. Whisk up four eggs and add a bit spoonful of quark and then pour into a frying pan with fry light and grate a healthy extra portion of cheese on top. I like it best with tomatoes and spinach and new potatoes in the fry light and then the egg mixture over top.0

tee hee, I took the plunge with quaaaaark (and remain equivocal, but I do use it) but I agree entirely about cottage cheese, I think I only ever tried it once and just didn't like the texture. Good job we don't all like the same things, eh? Does anyone else find that the longer they follow SW the less they eat? I find it difficult to squeeze in my HEB most days, and end up stuffing a pack of ryvita minis just before bed sometimes. As for fitting in three meals ..... a few times lately I've missed tea/supper, preferring instead to graze on a few strawberries, then a yoghurt or something. It's not normal (for me)
but it's good.
:jThat's 2 stone 9 lbs gone forever:j
thank you Slimming World!

I must be in the minority because I love cottage cheese! It's yummy on ryvita with a scrape of marmite, or spooned on chilli in place of sour cream or on a jacket potato!
I fancy trying the quark/egg/cheese topping for moussaka. I make a great veggie moussaka with lentils but haven't made it for ages.
Leftover quorn chilli for tea again tonight. Good job I love chiili as OH doesn't eat it so I always have it for days at a time.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0
