Scales are not all the same. I think there is a huge variation and sometimes I can weigh myself twice in a row, I shouldn't I know, and get different results when I haven't so much as sneezed in the middle!
The dahl in the slow cooker worked ok, I am not sure what I think of split peas, but I think the cost is amazing, less than £2 for the meal for us both. The split peas cost 49p and I only used half the packet! Also I helped myself to a good portion, with a big jacket potato and didn't finish the potato as I was full.
Let me know how the hummous turns out as I think I should def try that.0 -
Ah Laura, dont be too hard on yourself, it may be as you said the scales. You may even have a better loss next week, sometines it just goes like that.
Welcome debbiep, Im new too!
Can anyone answer my uestiopn on the chickpeas?
Do I cook them or use straight from the tin, Im making hoummous.0 -
ebaybaby chickpeas can be used cold from the tin (rinse them though) - only the dried kind need to be cooked or soaked
Laura shame about your gain but I def think that scales can differ a lot - the ones in my gym rarely say the same as mine at home, for example
Pee - the dahl sounds nice, where did you find the recipe?
Just realised that none of my meals today have any meat in? does that mean i can have an extra he B and A and have a green day?
thanks

Just wanted to say a quick hello to everyone.
Hope you don't mind me joining your group. I decided to start SW EE on Mon 28th June. Managed to lose 4lb in the first week and bought new scales this wed which said I have lost 10 3/4 lbs in total in 10 days. Think my first scales may have been a little out hehe!!
I've really enjoyed reading all the posts of meal plans and recipes ideas, they are fab thankyou. I love to cook so am finding this 'healthy eating plan' (must not say diet or I will eat everything in sight!!) very suitable for me and my fella who is also along for the ride, he hasn't got as much to lose as me but he is enjoying the meals and happy he can still have his beers!
Managed to follow it 100% up until last night, my fella failed his driving test so we went out for tea to cheer him up, I had Fish & Chips with mushy peas. Took all batter off my fish and only ate 4 chips so could have been a lot worse, but the half bottle of wine i had when we got home definitely took me over syns for the day. Anyway i'm back on it today so hopefully won't have caused too much damamge. Think i will post my meal plans as i go along to help me keep on track but please bear with me as I have never used a forum before so may press a few wrong buttons along the way!:)0 -
Welcome to the newbies, and well done to all the losers!!
I'm afraid I bottled my wi this week - should have been Tuesday but I went to a summer ball at the weekend with my sis - was careful with the food.... but went totally flexible with the alcohol and put on 3lbs. I just felt there wasn't much point in paying to be told I'd gained when I already knew that, so I spent the money on fruit instead!
Anyway I am now back to where I was before the ball, and am still on plan (funny, yesterday I could only eat half my dinner, and normally I scoff the lot. It isn't that I wasn't hungry, just that I was full sooner .... maybe my tum is being re-educated).I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

Does anyone know why smoked and smoked peppered mackerel is 1 syn per 28g and yet all other fish (that I have checked) is syn free even when smoked like haddock, cod kippers etc?? It seems really strange, think i am just miffed because I love peppered mackerel and salad and assumed it would be free on EE, thankfully I checked first.0

Hello, I'd like to join (back) into this thread if I might please. I've been signed up to the online SW for what seems like forever and I have basically been self sabotaging and being really pathetic.
I used to post a for a while but stopped because...well I don't know why really. I'm a bit fed up of paying each month to be a member and not actually following the plan because I don't have enough will power/energy/organisational effort.
I really want to loose the weight to fit back into all my lovely clothes (I'm fed up of looking frumpy too) but need to find the motivation to break the cycle - I can get into a chocolate frenzy!!
So. I reset my progress online, printed off some new food diaries and I am ready to go.
Today I had beans, egs and fried tomatoes for breakfast. Lunch was tuna salad (4 syns for the olive oil in the dressing) and dinner will be chicken curry and rice with some cabbage salad to start.
Snacks are FF yogurt and fruit and the rest of my syns (7) are on a flake, half eaten just now with coffee, half to be had tonight.
Need an HE B (milk was my A choice).
Right off to read a bit of the thread to get to know everyone and then a bit of housework (in the terrible heat:eek:)Trying to keep in budget.
