Well done Kitty! I've never got slimmer of the week even when I've lost 2.5-3lb as there is a woman who joined the same time as me but has lots to lose so always seems to lose 4lb+!

Gotta love a SW cooked breakfast. I swear it is my favourite part of this diet that I can have quorn sausage, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast and only use 1HEB.

    Hi all,

Not been on for a while, had a few birthdays etc and just recently I've been a bit down in the dumps. Not been feeling right for the past few months, and just recently had a rash down my legs that wasn't shifting with tablets. Anyway, had blood tests yesterday for various things including thyroid. Just been looking on internet and it affects weight. If it is that it will be a relief in a way because whatever I've been doing the weight isn't shifting, its been creeping up. :(

Off to have a look through the thread, theres a lot to catch up on! :D
    Hi there,

I have underactive thyroid so if that's what is wrong with you, you'll feel so much better when they sort it out, and it's usually quite simple to rectify. Good luck!

hello everyone - SW newbie here so please bear with me if I ask something that may seem stupid - I have attempted to read thro the other posts but it was making me hungry ;-)

I went to a SW meeting last week but just can't seem myself going ever again - I ahte all that clapping and choosing dlimmer of the week malarkey and hate someone else weighing me even more (in fact in past experience with weightwathers that is what made me drop the whole diet thing which was a bit silly in the long run.
Have tried WW at home and was keeping to it with little effect so am going to give Sw a try but they don;t seem to offer the same sort of online support as WW do.
    So here come my questions
Does anyone have any ideas for filling breakfasts that don't involve cooking. I work Ft and and am a single mum too so just have no time (or appetie) for sausages, eggs etc in the morning but I do NEED a big breakfast. I've been having a double portion of cereal for breakfast but that means I either have to stay off the extra easy (because it would need 2 HEBs) or use up some of my sins.

Does the number of syns you are allowed change according to how much weight you have to lose in the same way that WW points do?

Any one have any ideas for biscuity snacks with low syns? I like to have something sweet with my cup of tea post-dinner but 3 and a laf syns for a light alpen bar seems a bit extreme to me!

Today I've tried to do EE - I messed up on Thursday/Friday after getting confused with the book on what you were allowed to have. ;-). Could someone check that I've understood it right today?

    Breakfast
56g of Bran Flakes (HEB + 4.5 SYNS)
    Using semi skimmed milk HEA

    Lunch
Salad - + fat free dressing
    3 slices ham
    1 boiled egg

    Snack
    Lite alpen bar 3.5 syns
    Banana
    Muller lite yog

    Dinner
    Syn free chips
    Quorn burger
Home made coleslaw (using fat free fromage frais - yeeeuuchhh!!!!!)
    Strawberries + fat free yoghurt

And now I'm craving something sweet - what to do?

WI today , sts AGAIN thats 3 possibly 4 weeks in a row now and its getting boring. Could have been worse as * week though.

Been to visit my Mum today which involved a power walk there keeping up with my son but a normal walk back as we were both knackered :D

Am wearing a pair of [naff] jeans that I haven't worn in at least 2 years as they didn't fit, tried them on this morning & they are slightly to BIG :D. They're naff cos they're animal print and I'm a bit too old to wear something like that but who cares :rotfl:
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T

My choice for a filling breakfast is normally 2 weetabix (HEb) and a banana chopped on top. Can't be doing with the meagre portions of cereal you're allowed. Porridge is also an option if you've got time for just sticking it in the microwave.

As for sweet things, my saviour has been Kelloggs fibre plus bars. Yes, they're 5 1/2 syns for a bar, however they are so chocolatey that I find I'm able to cut them into 3 and store them in the fridge - one piece normally keeps my cravings nice & quiet! Banana & custard Muller lights are also quite sweet & yummy.

The clapping in the meetings gets on my nerves sometimes too - often feels like I'm in some sort of AA meeting! "My name's Bekki and I haven't eaten fish & chips in 16 weeks..."

Thanks, I hadn't noticed you could have 2 weetabix instead (altho tbh I would normally have 3 - I'm soo hungry in the morning, probably because I try not tosnack in the evening so it can be a good 12 hours since I've last eaten). I'd normally eat more than the allowed portion of porridge too but I'll have a play and see what fills me up the most.

I have couscous, fruit and yoghurt for breakdast and it keeps me full all morning. Using plain couscous, measure out 4 or 5 tablespoons into a large bowl. Pour on boiling water to just cover and zap in the microwave for 1 to 2 minutes. Fluff up with a fork, add chopped fresh fruit (I usually have banana) and a fat-free yoghurt. It makes a masive bowlful, syn-free and very filling.

5 to 15 syns a day are for everyone unless you have many stones to lose when you could get away wwith maybe 20 per day. Do use them up as they are there for a reason.

There's not much in the way of biscuits for very low syns. The Alpen light are fibre-rich so tend to fill you up if you have a cuppa at the same time (to swell the fibre).

Your day looks good, but no need to suffer with fromage frais on your coleslaw. Use the extra light mayo, it's very low syn and with a little mustard powder or curry powder added it's lovely and gives a lift to the plain old slaw.

Cravings for sweet things tend to disappear I've found, but my big thing is a cup of chocolate Options if the cravings are for chocolate. If not, you can make a big bowl of mousse using a sugar-free jelly (2 syns) made up with half the amount of water. When cool but not set, whisk in a plain yoghurt or fromage frais until the volume doubles. This is very nice with fresh fruit added and all very low syn.

    Hope that helps.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

hmm - I'm not a great fan of couscous altho I've never tried it with sweet things so I'll give that a go - added to my shopping list for tomorrow. Thanks for the idea

ok - my introductin was very rushed and the leader just said 70 syns so it confused me when I read that some people had 105. I'll try and stick to 70 but at least I know that's not so set in stone as to worry undult, I was originally going to allow myself 10 a day but than thought I'd better dave some up for emeergency situations!!

will give that a go next week. Hope that helps.

thanks again - that's been very useful. I'm thinking I'll invest in the red and green cook books. Does anyone have any idea how much they cost - there weren't any at the meeting last week and I'm not going to be able to make it this week as I'm going to watch Green Day :j:j so I was going to ask a friend to pick them up for me if poss.!
