It's ok - no offence taken!

Recently has been my 2nd big plateau where I couldn't shift anything and I was convinced I was doing something wrong. Reading and re-reading the books didn't shed any light.

I know a few weeks back people were talking about portion sizes and eating until full etc. and it got my head ticking.

I find it very difficult to set targets as I always find life throws something in your way to prevent you achieving. My last 4 months have been the slowest since I started and it's frustrating. Luckily, I have nothing in particular to aim for, but it does make it hard when things aint happening.

I'm sure there'll be a few more views over the course of the evening, but please don't feel that what I've said should impact on everyone - this is simply what I have done but could well be looked into by others.

Good luck for your wedding - you'll look gorgeous however much/little you've lost - brides always do!

Just read your sig - you have done amazingly well so far - you must be proud

I must stop obsessing so much - i have done well so far - i know i want to loose more & just realised i was rude to a workmate earlier when she said i looked like i had lost more weight and i told her i just felt fat! - I'm such an idiot - need to calm down!!! :o

I spose planning weddings do this to you - on top of that i found out at the weekend one of my guinea pigs is pregnant - but the vet couldn't find any heartbeats so they might be stillborn - so i am stressing over if she will be ok

Sorry for the rant today - stressed and emotional at the moment - will be better after a good nights sleep - will try to resist the chocolate! :rotfl:

    Apologies again x

Wish me luck for weigh in (might be ranting about nothing!:o)

Good luck to everyone else x

Has anyone got any ideas to suggest for someone joining SW who is wheat & lactose intolerant? I'm supposed to be explaining the plan to someone I know tomorrow who is interested in joining, but I'm a bit stuck when it comes to HEa & HEbs?

This made interesting reading. My MIL is trying to lose weight as well. She started at the same time as me and so far think we are roughly even stevens on the loss. I'm doing SW and she is doing it all from a cheapo calorie counting book she bought in a charity shop. When we had a chat about what she was eating last visit she more or less is eating the same as me so it probably is all just about eating sensibly, portion control and not going to mad. I'm just so proud that she can do it without having to go to a meeting. I think at the moment I still need that part of it.

Bluefire - it might be worth taking her along to a meeting and getting her to chat to the consultant before she actually signs up to anything. Other than that - I'm no help at all sorry :o:)

    Today's food - Green day

    B - 28g fruit and fibre (with w/g c/bread Heb1) with milk (hea1) 1 tsp of lemon curd (1)

L - (met friend for lunch :)) Jacket potato with cheese* and baked beans with side salad

    * the cafe were v v stingy on their cheese so i am happy to count the tiny amount as my second hea :)

There are lots of wheatfree products on the market now that I am sure your friend will be aware of more than me, like pasta's, breads etc. Plus the soya products for lactose intollerants. These should fit in just as well as the standard products we all eat. I sometimes uses Alpro Soya milk, it is on the list as an A milk choice. As far as cheese I'm not aware of any alternatives apart from non cows milk products but they will still have lactose in them I assume.

Just found this on the SW site

Q: I have coeliac disease and need to follow a gluten-free diet, will Food Optimising be suitable for me?
A: Certainly, you can still Food Optimise. You may want to make some adjustments to your Healthy Extra choices. Ask your Consultant for more information.

Please note, we are unable to provide any specific advice regarding coeliac disease and would recommend that you always follow the advice and specific dietary recommendations suggested by your doctor or dietitian.

Regarding calories and s/w diet im with you regarding that no matter how we butter things up points good fats bad fats syns everything we eat has calories and we had this natter in class last week actually someone was really upset because she had sts for last 4 weeks and swore she had filled in food diaries not gone over on syns and was not drinking alcohol and she offered dawn our consultant the use of her food diary in class to see if she could help anyone else and she was eating really well portion sizes were a little to big but she was eating at least 10 portions of fruit a day plus loads of quorn in a sitting and 2-3 muller lights a day her argument being their free so why arent i losing weight?? dawn simply answered in 1 sentence that we should be eating until we feel comfortably full but this woman was snacking constantly just swapped naughties for healthy snacks in my opinion she was lucky not to put on really whole punnets of strawbs etc so i think its good to be mindfull on how much we are really eating for whatever reasons i know i eat when im bored hence the 10 stone to lose well 8 and a half now lol sorry about the essay but it helped me last week in class..

Hello Bluefire, as suggested above it's probably better for her to go to a group and speak to the consultant - perhaps phoning ahead to tell the consultant so she can be prepared with the answers. However, HEAs can be soya or rice milk, they won't have lactose in, I imagine? And HEBs can be many kinds of dried, canned or cooked fruit, or some brand soups - and I daresay some home-made soups would do the same job.
